I think Matthew Hayden has been forgotten, i think he has a good technique and Jacques Kallis, but my voite stays with Vaughn

I still can't understand how Damien Martyn isn't up there, he's got the best technique out of all the Australian team IMO

Yeah and why Chanderpaul!!!!! He is one of the most unorthodox players in the world.

The way he sets up at the crease before delivery is 'different' to say the least! But watch him when he plays a shot, everything is in the right position, nothing particularly unorthodox about him when he strikes the ball.

HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT!!!!!! :mad :cutit
I am the most unorthodox player to set foot on this planet........Chanderpaul is like Dravid compared to me:D  ......
Oh yea, I agrew with the guy above me, Chanderpaul isn't unorthodox, just different, like that guy from W.I. who plays with USA now.......

I don't really know the best batting technique now, but the best I've ever seen is Mark Waugh. He was so elegant with his stroke play. The best in the Aussie team would be Clarkey or Marto

:drinks whey, clarkey :drinks :cheer

Mark Waugh wielded his bat like a Samurai. Arguably one of the best players of the on-drive and probably the most elegant batsman you will see. Damien Martyn is in a sense his successor in the team, his century in Melbourne was outstanding, barely two or three mistakes in his whole innings.
I'll go out on a limb and put a vote down for Gilly though, because it's not just powerful strokeplay that turns a good ball into a boundary. The consummate back-foot player, he shows utter disrespect for bowlers of any style, rolls his wrists impeccably, picks his gaps and then makes them seem wider than they are. It's not that he can't or doesn't defend. It's because when he does attack, he strikes the ball with perfection. If a batsman is out there to make runs, no-one is more aware of his task than Adam Gilchrist.

That's why he's such a great opener in ODI's. Usually he gets the team off to great starts over 6 RPO

i would have to go with dravid..... he may back towards the leg.. but that pure skill hes doing to to give himself room to play tru da off side.... other wise perfect battting techinique.....

but i wud haf to say,,, no1s is perfect ervy1 has their own style, if it works for them then byall means go ahead ( chanderpaul in mind )

Unquestionably Rahul Dravid. And this is not just me but many cricket experts speaking. Dravid in mediocre form is better in technique than most cricketers in their peak form. Tendulkar has become too much of an on-side player of late--he move across the stumps and tries to play it away through mid-wicket. Dravid leaves almost perfectly (I remember the Bangladesh dismissal), has a rock solid defensive shot and plays a splendid cover-drive and pull shot. He can also be unorthodox and has perfected shots like the leg-glance in the last 10 overs of an ODI and the reverse sweep.

Quite easily the most technically-sound batsman.
