West Indies started well after winning the toss and batting first, making 53 runs for the opening partnership. Gayle made 32 (25) before being trapped LBW by Ntini.Devon Smith hit a quick 30 off just 18 balls before Boucher took a smart stumping off van der Wath. Samuels also hit 30 (17) before Ntini claimed his 2nd wicket. Chanderpaul (10) and Sarwan (22) got in but couldn't go on as the South African's restricted the West Indies to 148-8 off their 20 overs. The pick of the bowlers were Ntini who claimed 2-10 and Kemp 2-14.
South Africa needed 149 to win but started badly losing Smith for 2. Gibbs was run out by the keeper Ramdin for 12 and de Villiers only managed 11 before being bowled by Powell. South Africa found themselves at 67-8 and in deep trouble. Bravo had 2 wickets along with Smith and Taylor, Powell and Edwards 1. Even with a valiant 14 not out from Andrew Hall and 32 (15) from Andre Nel, it wasn't enough. Edwards got the last 2 wickets and West indies skittled South Africa out for 116 in 15 overs.
