South Africa vs West Indies @ New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg

West Indies got their Twenty20 World Championship campaign off to a flying start, recording a 32 run win over the hosts. Edwards was influencial collecting 3-34 in his 4 overs.

West Indies started well after winning the toss and batting first, making 53 runs for the opening partnership. Gayle made 32 (25) before being trapped LBW by Ntini.Devon Smith hit a quick 30 off just 18 balls before Boucher took a smart stumping off van der Wath. Samuels also hit 30 (17) before Ntini claimed his 2nd wicket. Chanderpaul (10) and Sarwan (22) got in but couldn't go on as the South African's restricted the West Indies to 148-8 off their 20 overs. The pick of the bowlers were Ntini who claimed 2-10 and Kemp 2-14.

South Africa needed 149 to win but started badly losing Smith for 2. Gibbs was run out by the keeper Ramdin for 12 and de Villiers only managed 11 before being bowled by Powell. South Africa found themselves at 67-8 and in deep trouble. Bravo had 2 wickets along with Smith and Taylor, Powell and Edwards 1. Even with a valiant 14 not out from Andrew Hall and 32 (15) from Andre Nel, it wasn't enough. Edwards got the last 2 wickets and West indies skittled South Africa out for 116 in 15 overs.

Kenya vs New Zealand @ Kingsmead, Durban

Kenya almost beat New Zealand in their opening game of this Twenty20 World Championship, falling just 5 runs short. Odoyo was influencial with the ball taking 3-30 and all the batsman fired for Kenya. 3 men for New Zealand played crucial roles. Vincent hit 86*, Fulton 83 and Gillespie took 2-5.

New Zealand won the toss and batted on a flat track. Things started very badly for New Zealand as McCullum went for a golden duck caught by Mishra off the bowling of Odoyo. But then came the crucial partnership between Lou Vincent and Peter Fulton. The two put on 164 before Fulton was bowled by Odoyo for 83 from just 50 deliveries. Odoyo managed to pick up his 3rd trapping Taylor infront for 7 as New Zealand made a daunting 184-3 off their 20.

Kenya started off the worst they possibly could, losing Ouma for a golden duck LBW to Bond 1st ball of the innings. Then came some important knocks. D Obuya 22 (13), Shah 38 (16), Tikolo 33 (16) and C Obuya 18 (12) gave Kenya a fighting chance. but golden ducks for Kamande and Bhudia left Kenya in a precarious position at 143-9. Onyango 26 not out and Ongondo 28 brought them within 6 runs of victory. Bond got the final wicket with 7 balls remaining in the innings. New Zealand managed to get themselves out of a tricky position and unconvincingly beat the Kenyans.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have been very happy with the realisticness in scores and run rates ect. In both cases, the team batting second has cracked under the pressure. Both teams, if batted the full overs, would have made the target. Day off school today, should be able to get up to the first Sri Lankan game

Pakistan vs Scotland @ Kingsmead, Durban

Pakistan romped home to a 9 wicket victory over Scotland in Durban. A great performance by the whole of the Pakistani team just proved to much for Ryan Watson's side.

Scotland won the toss and followed the trend of batting first. The pitch was a slow one which would prove hard to score on for the Scottish side. Scotland lost their first wicket with the score at just 4, Asif dismissing Watts LBW. Nobody really made a score apart from Gavin Hamilton who hit a fresh 45 from 30 balls. 20's from Poonia and Smith helped Scotland above the 120 mark but it wasn't to be enough. Gul and Razzaq both claimed 3 wickets a piece and Asif chipped in with 2.

Pakistan never looked troubled by Scotland's attack throughout the innings. Apart from losing Salman Butt for 37 bowled by Blain, Pakistan were never in any bother. Imran Nazir showed his quality by smashing 52* from just 21 deliveries. At a slightly slower rate Hafeez managed 36* from 19 to guide Pakistan home. Blain was the only bowler to take a wicket and all the bowlers got hit. The Pakistani batsman went at over 12 an over to win with 61 balls to spare.

Australia vs Zimbabwe @ Kingsmead, Durban

Australia thumped a weak Zimbabwe side by 10 wickets in the final match of the 2nd day. Australia thrived under the lights of Kingsmead with a easy win. Bracken took a brilliant 4-26,Hayden hit 60* from 49 balls and Gilchrist 58* from 37.

Zimbabwe won the toss and as did the previous 3 matches, they elected to bat. It was a very wearing pitch with 3 games being played on it in a day. Zimbabwe never got any partnerships together. Only 3 score os 20 or above frp, Chibhabha (24), Masakadza (20) and Chigumbura (27*). All the bowlers bowled well with Bracken taking 4 wickets, Watson and Lee 2 and Symonds 1. Zimbabwe made just 116 a/o in 18.3 overs.

Australia strolled home smashing boundaries as they pleased. Both openers got in easily and both hit quick fire half centuries. Chigumbura and Brent were very economical but only bowled 2 overs each. Gilchrist and Hayden targeted Matsikenyeri, Dabengwa and Mupariwa and got the runs needed with ease.

Bangladesh vs West Indies @ New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg

The young Bangladeshi team have continued their form from the World Cup by beating a poor West Indies side. A lackluster batting display cost the West Indies the game, the Bangladeshi spinners having a field day.

Some outstanding front line bowling by Mortaze and Rafique destroyed the West Indies top order. Mortaza picked up Gayle (4), Smith (2) and Chanderpaul (1) ripping through their best batsman. Rafique at the other end made use of a turning pitch and bowled Samuels and Sarwan. The West Indies were stunned at 8-5. It soon became 22-6 Razzaq getting in on the act. If it wasn't for Bravo's 36 (26) they would have struggled to make 50. Alok Kapali bowled an astonishing 2 overs, 2 for 2. Rafique took 2-9, Mortaza 3-6 and Razzaq 2-26. The West Indies crumbled to 89 a/o in just 14.2 overs.

Bangladesh set about winning in quick fashion and they did just that. Iqbal made 16 at just over a run-a-ball, Nafees 14 from 8, Ahmed 21 off 20 and Ashraful the best of the lot with 35 from 23 balls. Samuels picked up 2 wickets and Taylor and Powell claimed 1 a piece. But it was never going to be enough and Bangladesh got home with 8 overs to spare and 6 wickets in the bag. Samuels was the only bright spark on what was a very dim West Indian performance.

England vs Zimbabwe @ Newlands, Cape Town

England are stunned by a loss to Zimbabwe at Cape Town. Zimbabwe managed to chase 143 with 2 wickets to spare. Matsikenyeri took 2 wickets and made 51 runs to help his side record their 1st win.

England made a good start to their innings after winning the toss and batting. The opening partnership passed 50 before Loye was caught by Utseya off the bowling of Matsikenyeri for 32. Matt Prior reached his 50 before being bowled by Matsikenyeri for 57. Pietersen hit a brisk 32 from 26 balls, but Solanki struggled and made just 14 in 18 deliveries. Matsikenyeri took 2 wickets for 32 in his 4, Utseya 1 for 32 and Mupariwa the most economic with 1-15 off 4.

Zimbabwe lost Sibanda early for 7 and then Taylor for 18. Chibhaba made a cruicial 23 from 15 balls, before a rare wicket for Pietersen helped by the glove work of Prior, got him. Taibu came and went for 2 as did Masakadza for 7, run out by Solanki. Matsikenyeri farmed the strike and hit some brillaint shots on his way to a match winning 50. Broad dismissed Dabengwa but Chigumbura (19) and Utseya (15) hit crucial knocks. Zimbabwe hit a four with 5 balls to spare to clinch the match. Pietersen only conceeded 4 runs in his two overs claiming a wicket. Collingwood took 2-23 and Flintoff 2-16. Broad got 1 wicket but it wasn't enough. England have to beat Australia to go through to the super 8's.

India vs Scotland @ Kingsmead, Durban

India defeated Scotland in Durban, but only just. Scotland and Hamilton gave the Indians a scare as they came within 8 runs of victory.

India won the toss and batted first with batting tough late on under lights. Sehwag hit a quick 26 to get things going before he fell c&b to Blain. Uthappa made a scratchy 5 ball duck before he was given LBW off the captain Watson. This brought Yuvraj Singh to the crease and he stayed until the very end. Gambhir fell for 33 and Dhoni for 7 both dismissed by Dougie Brown. Singh plowed on to make an unbeaten 80 from just 51 deliveries, including 3 fours and 7 huge sixes. Karthik made 6 not out as India racked up 152-4. The wicketakers for Scotland were Brown (2-27), Watson (1-37) and Blain (1-35).

Scotland started badly with Watts gone for 6 and Watson gone for a golden duck. Hamilton produced the knock of the innings smashing 79 off 55 balls. Poonia hit a brisk 18 in 8 balls and McCallum and Brown hit a few runs. But thanls to 2 crucial wickets from Pathan the game was safe for India, who won by 7 runs. Scotland battled hard but their Twenty20 world cup was now over. Sehwag took a wicket as did Sreesanth. Pathan and Harbajhan took 2 each conceeding 21 and 17 respectively.
