Ready for action--M.S.Dhoni

M.S.Dhoni is the man who can win the match from India's point of view , if sent up the order for this match he could dethrone the inexperienced aussie attack. Dhoni certainly is a dangerous player and would love to perform agaist the aussies. He has clobbered 120 fours and 44 sixes and it is a firm possibility that he could end up being a bigger-hitting version of Adam Gilchrist. Whereas Gilchrist makes his runs in a classical albeit 'hard-hitting' fashion with cuts and drives to rival Tendulkar's, Dhoni is seemingly too impatient to compile. He'd rather destroy, with unorthodox slogs all over the ground - and many times out of it.MS Dhoni is in the form of his life and he would be vying to make the most out of it. Its heartening to see that success indeed has not gone onto his head and he holds his feet firmly on the ground.

Current age 32 years 86 days

Bowling style Right-arm medium

Ricky Pointing

?We?re here to win, whoever we play. We want to win every game that we play, and that?s the way we train, and we prepare,? said Ponting.Ricky Pointing is one man India would want get out as soon as possible because the last time he played agaist India he scored a brillant 140. He loves the indian attack and if the Indians don't bowl good consistent line and length , they might just get a match threatning stick from the Australian captain. He is in the form of a lifetime and always raises to the occasion.
In 37 innings he has scored 1369 runs with a highest score of 140* at a average of 41.48 icluding 4 centuries and 4 half centuries. This will be his first match agaist India in West Indies.

This should be a great contest... Com'on India.. Go Sachin go!!! :happy

Super Eight: India Vs Australia
Weather: Sunny
Pitch: Hard but with some Grass cover
Update: India 60/4 (10)

The Toss

72292883ur0.jpg
Indian captain won the toss and elected to bat first on a wicket which seems to favour the bowlers a bit. Rahul was of the opininon that if they could play out a few overs India would come in a very strong position to dominate.Mean while Pointing was happy about the toss and looked forward to the match.

Wickets Tumble

73270099cv6.jpg
The decision to bat first backfired India when one after the other India batsmen looked in a hurry back to the pavilion. They looked absolutely hopeless agaist a the deadly comination of a seaming wicket combined with accuray and swing of McGrath and pace of brett lee. Robin Uthappa the dashing young talent litreally threw his wicket away when a ball on his leg stump was glanced directly into the hands of wtason and hence in the very first over India were reduced to 0/1. This is where it all started as the pitch in the first over, looked as a nightmare to bat on. Rahul Dravid walked in next to survive the first few overs with his foolproof technique. Sourav Ganguly at the other end was looking in his classic touch and looked in no trouble at all dispatching lee for a boundary off the first ball. But that was all that India cloud be happy off at the moment

Further Collapse

72293017ja5.jpg

Dravid now was facing the last ball of the first over from lee. His eyes looked determined and he surely wanted to go through this period. The first delivery bowled at around 155 Km/h was a very full lenth delivery which pitched around off stump and came back into dravid's pads only to deflect off it and dislodge the bails. Dravid was out bowled first ball and India were tottering at 5/2 at the end of two overs. Thereafter Sachin and Ganguly looked to get India back on track. While ganguly was dispatching boundaries and getting singles at will Tendulkar looked a bit uneasy facing McGrath his rival. Just as Indian supporters thought that it might be a sachin day McGrath set tendulkar up nicely. He first bowled In cutter around offstump to which tendulkar played a handsome drive through mid on. Next ball McGrath bowled at the same area but this time the bowl moving away from tendulkar. Tendulkar tried to play the same shot but because the ball moved away it took a edge and was caught in seconed slip by clarke. India 24/3 at this stage with McGrath looking ominous and India without Tendulkar and Dravid. Ganguly was there at the crease looking great at the other end but he needed suppoprt to move on.Yuvraj Singh walked in next and even he returned without scoring for a third duck of the Indian Innings so far. He was out when he misjudjed a ball from McGrath which was back of length , came back in suddenly and did not bounce as expected by Yuvraj and came back in more sharply. Yuvraj expecting somethi8ng different did not offer a shot and the ball just clipped the top off side of the off stump, India 25/4Dhoni came in next. He wasn't expected to survive because he has not go the techinque of some of other Indian players.

Fightback

1859722of3.jpg

Can Ganguly and Dhoni get India out of trouble or will the aussies bowl India out very early was the question raised now. Indian fans were very dissapointed but still supported the team something which is very charactheristic of them. Dhoni as every othe batsmen struggled agsit McGrath with some edges not carrying whereas some half chances not taken. India were now surely under some serious pressure. Then around the tenth over Pointing made a very surprising move, he brought on the spinner Dan Cullen into the attack. This change came at the time when the field restrictions were on and Dhoni and ganguly both of whom like to attack spinners were playing. His first over has gone now for 13runs with mahendra singh Dhoni hitting three boundaries and looking ominous agaist the inexperienced spinner. Was the decision to bring on Cullen when Watson was there as a option and Lee was bowling well a mistake by Pointing something that will help dhoni grow in confidence and get his touch back.

Scorecard

Ganguly 29*(20)
Dhoni 18*(19)

McGrath 5-1-21-3
Lee 4-0-26-1
Cullen 1-0-13-0
