Talented Melbourne Bitters batsman brad352 is believed to be in serious doubt for the Bitters' opening round clash on August 13 after sustaining a broken nose and fractured cheekbone during Thursday's centre wicket training session. Contrary to popular belief the young star did not suffer the injuries whilst batting, but was in fact struck when an errant delivery from average battler duffarama was dispatched over the midwicket fence where Brad was seated while enjoying liberal quantities of the sponsor's product.
In a terse media appearance after surgery early this afternoon he stated "although it is very unfortunate that an event of this nature would occur on one of the few times that I actually attended training, reconstructive surgery went well and I am confident of being fit for the game against the Rockers." When quizzed about whether his lack of match fitness would be a concern for the selection committee should he make himself available, Brad replied "I'm sure that even unfit and out of practice I am and will remain an integral part of the Bitters lineup, and indeed any other lineup I should choose to be a part of."
Reporters from this publication attempted to obtain a comment from team manager and serviceable medium pacer rickyp, however queries were ignored and reporters were struck at by the clearly intoxicated player. Sources close to the team echo the confidence shown by brad352 at being available for the Rockers' game, emphasising his importance to the team. Brad had been in sparkling form leading up to the mishap, starring in disgraceful batting conditions throughout the preseason competition.
