Block mobile phones using IMEI

I just got robbed off my cell phone today and I was just wondering, how do we block as cell phone using the IMEI number?? I know it's possible but I don't know how.

Contact your provider. It isn't something you can just do yourself.

Call your Operator. They would block the sim. Next, I think you need to file a police complaint to block the phone using the IMEI.
