Bowling Tactics in ICC2008

Those are interesting tactics Shravi, you say you bowl full all the time, even at batsmen who are strong on the front foot?, and do you change field settings ?

Nope, I never change field settings. And yes, even to players strong on the front foot. I've tried and I've never been able to exploit any weaknesses.

I absolutely hate bowling in Pakistan in test matches. The wickets are so flat. It's ridiculous. It totally ruins my bowlers' averages after a 3 match series.

well I open with a Spinner one time :D.
he got 2 early wicket but i got pepper.
from 2 wkts 12 run to 300+ for 5
unfortunately i Play with only 1 Fast bowler, I got mess up. and lost a must win match

This post isn't off-topic, it's just thread evolution.

These are my batting Tactics using the chain in ODIs.

Overs 0-10
Over A- Batsman A on 6 bars, Batsman B on 3 bars
Over B- Batsman A on 3 bars, Batsman B on 6 bars

Overs 11-15
Over A- Batsman A on 6 bars, Batsman B on 4 bars
Over B- Batsman A on 4 bars, Batsman B on 6 bars

Overs 16-20
Over A- Batsman A on 6 bars, Batsman B on 5 bars
Over B- Batsman A on 5 bars, Batsman B on 6 bars

Overs 21-35: 6 bars only
Overs 36-40: 7 bars only
Overs 41-50: 8 bars only

If one of the openers survives till the 25th over, switch him to 7 bars only, and 8 bars only after the 30th over so he can go on an get a big score. This is how I pace my innings using the chain.

Batting aggression

Openers:
-----------------------------
Start with 5
increase for every 20 balls they face.

Middle Order batsmen
-----------------------------
Start with 4
increase for every 15 balls they face

In both the cases, max aggression i give is 8

If someone gets out after 35th over, i will give 6 to coming batsman as they need to score little fast..

Sometimes, i send my alrounder for pinch hitting at no.3 For him also, i give 6 aggression and increase it after every 30 ball he faces. --- If he clicks he scores century in 70 balls

My current composition of the team is like this

2 openers - 1 very aggressive style and 1 defensive style

No.3 - Very aggressive batsman
No.4 - Batsman without any preferences
No.5 - Spin specialist
No.6 - Wicket keeper batsman
No.7 - Allrounder (Offspinner)
No.8-11 - Bowlers

I have 3 very good alrounders. Still I prefer playing proper bowler instead. So, only 1 alrounder will be there in playing 11.

Bowlers -

RF, RFM, OS, LS and an offspinner alrounder.

Batting plan for One dayers.

Most people would not think of this, and it was an experiment at the start, but it works 80% of the time, and puts the opposition out of the game by 300 odd runs sometimes.

I always bat first, regardless.
I crank up both aggression meters of my openers to 7.
If Im lucky, they will hit at 8 an over for 20 overs, and not get out.
I am willing to do this until i get to wicket number 4, where i calm right down to 3 bars. Then for the last 20 overs you can hit out again.
In the end you should have around 350?
My openers once both hit around 200* each, it was brilliant.

Also this forces their batsmen to hit out, and you take a flurry of wicket, around one an over :). hope this helps.
