In the spirit of Christmas. Anyone know who are the cricketers that:

1) Scored the most runs in Boxing Day tests

2) Taken the most wickets in Boxing Day tests

3) Scored a century on Boxing day

4) Returned the best bowling performance on Boxing day

I would look this up if my querying skills were decent, but alas they are not. So 500,000 vCash to whoever finds the answer (with a reliable source of course)

Id say South African boxing day tests count as well, cause as far as I am aware, the only time they dont play at home on Boxing day is when they tour Australia

I've found an article about the boxing day tests, correct as of 2004.
To do the things you want, I will have to go through all the boxing day test matches between 2004 and 2009, so that could take a while.
Also the hundreds ON boxing day, I will have to go through all the matches...
When I find some time today, I'll do it and if I do not get around to it I will just post the article here.
As I'm greedy and want the vCash (:p), I'm not going to share the article I found ATM...

Kinda of related but kinda of not. Don't the Black Caps usually have a match on Boxing day? The ones I remember are usually ODIs, this year they have nothing. Can't remember if they had one last year or the year before that but I know they had matches there. Its a shame as they should try and build up a tradition for Boxing Day ODI or even T20I.

Ok did the hard work and went through those stats.
Ponting has scored 342 (if my maths is right) between 05 and now giving him a total of 1117.
Steve Waugh is still the highest.

Warne has 13 wickets giving him 56 wickets in total.

Stats up to 2004 Boxing Day stats | Cricket News | Global | Cricinfo.com

So

1) Steve Waugh
2) Shane Warne
4) Sid Barnes

I've now gone through the boxing day tests in the first 1000 tests...

Out of those tests only 10 centuries have ever been scored on boxing day, am going to do the rest of the tests soon.

It's interesting looking at the centuries, b/c you can see the different eras.
Pre 1930 the tests did not start on boxing day, so quite a few centuries were scored for the amount of matches.
Then Post War to 2000 the tests started starting on boxing day, so it was a lot unlikely centuries would be scored then.
But now in this aggressive era of batting (2000's), a lot more centuries have been scored, and all the test matches have been starting on boxing day.
