Pre-built machines typically have cases that are very tightly assembled which means it will be kinda difficult to swap out parts (not impossible, but not easy either). What about buying that computer but also buying an upgraded graphics card and changing it out myself?
I'm currently on a 2.0 Hhz, 1 gig of Ram and a 256 mb gpu so anything is an upgrade.
I've had my parents only ever purchase HP pre-built desktops in the past and the result has always been okay. The machines run well when they are new but problems inevitably occur (probably comes down to how they use the machine, tbh). If you're going with a pre-built machine, you're going to have to deal with cheaper hardware components (except for the processor of course), which may fail earlier.

I've not had a great experience with that Best Buy. They quoted me $250+ to replace the fan for my laptop, whereas the fan itself was available from resellers at < $25. They also basically stole $85 from me to "diagnose" the problem whereas I had already told them exactly what was wrong (the fan/heat sink assembly was broken).I think it was an HP, it's at the Best buy on Parmer and 35.
So I've made a decision not to spend any more money on their franchise. If I need to purchase some thing tech related, I now go to Fry's. Even though they charge a large margin (compared to online retailers), at least they don't try and steal my dough.
