Story [C2005] - KFC Twenty20 Premier League - Australia 2008

Today Cricket Austraila announced that the International Cricket Council won a courtcase against the BCCI and that the Indian Premier League would be shifted to Australia. Cricket Australia announced it would be expanded to something even bigger. Once the news was broken, KFC instantly rang up Cricket Australia and signed a sponsorship Deal.

The competition will now include 12 teams from all over Australia all independntly franchised and no teams from the interstate competitions will compete. Each team will include 15 players. Cricket Australia said there would be a preference for international players to play but if needed, Australian domestic cricketers would be allowed to involve themselves in the competition.

These are the teams which will be playing in the First ever KFC Twenty20 Premier League.

Pool A will host teams from Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania. This pool will be very competative with some outstanding players who have already signed contracts to the teams in the league. These players include Sachin Tandulker, Shane Warne, Muttaiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vass, Marvin Attapattu with many more signings to come.

Pool B has teams from South Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales and Tasmania. This pool will be a very competative group and all teams will be competing for either First or Second so that they are able to advance to the knockout round of the Twenty20 Premier League.

Players that have signed for teams in this pool include Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Phil Jaques and Daniel Vettori which means it will be a very competative pool.
