Jade Dernbach has been the talk of English selectors & cricket experts for quite some time now. His loss of form meant that he lost his place in the ODI side and his stats don't tell any more pleasing.
But now, with all at stake for an English side in shambles after the Ashes and quickly into the ICC WT20, the seamers, especially in the dry Bengali conditions, are needed more than any other kind of bowlers, to produce the goods in the beginning of the innings, and, especially in the T20 format, at the death of the innings.
Broad is injured and struggling and Bresnan isn't consistent enough at the moment. And, against a Sri Lankan side in top form with bat and ball, Kusal Perera and Lasith Malinga dominating either end of the ricket filed, we all are asking the same question.
Can Dernbach produce when required?
