Memo
To: All Pilots in 606 Squadron

Had a couple of issues with the mission (mainly that I kept dying) so first mission is off until the morning, chaps. Settle in to your new hard lumpy beds, and make damn well sure you get a good nights sleep, you're gonna need it. 6:30 start tomorrow.

Goodnight chaps!

My bed isn't bumpy!

Looking forward to the update though Embi, i'm interested in seeing how this works.

Message:
Sorry chaps about the late start, I know you were all up at 6 this morning but the missions off until 9:00 because of a pilot, a chap named Roberts I believe, managed to walk into the wing of a Spitfire during the night. Whether he was sleepwalking or just "intoxicated", I am not quite sure. Never-the-less, he has woken, and been severely reprimanded.

And we would like to warmly welcome two new recruits to the squadron, they are Willy L (note: wildwil, you did your sums wrong, it adds up to 120 rather than 100, I'll put vision:30, gforce:30 and health:40, ask if you want different) and Zohaib Ahmed, who foolishly told the truth at the conscripting desk, that he was 3 years underage, and they were so impressed by his honesty and enthusiasm they let him join, and put his age as 19 in the registry book (basically, the minumum age you could put down was 19, don't wory, about half of us are under 19).

Silly me! My head really hurts after that wing collision! I can asure you that I wasn't drunk. ;)

Great story so far Embi.

Congratulations chaps, on our first successful outing, even though most of you didn't take part. Only Zohaib and a few others from the base were selected. The mission was to destroy a fleet of Nazi boats. Exciting pictures taken from the camera mounted on my flying goggles revealed just how our lads did:

This one shows me ordering the others to attack my target.

I don't think "Bogey" is the best insult for a Nazi we could have come up with. In the foreground, you can see what happens if you try and use nitro on a ship to make it go faster.

Personal stats:
4 rockets fired
4 rockets missed

I think Zohaib did manage to get at least one kill, well done to him. I must have drunk too much coffee this morning.

This is amazing. You actually feel being a part of the action. So despite the misses, its a good start. Hopefully Zohaib did get atleast one kill.

Thanks for the praise. Its all going swimmingly now I've got used to taking off and landing the Spitfire. Well, autolanding the Spitfire :) Picture shown below is of my personal one - note the colours -red on the wings and black in the other places. Plus its own registration code, MB, which is my initials and the inspiration behind my username).

I've always liked Flight Sim games, bought Flight Simulator 2004 earlier this year - fantastic game. So realistic, the feeling when I first loaded it up and sat in the pilots seat of a 747, looking down a dark runway with lights either side...and the sound of the engines coming through your headphones...it is an amazing experience. You really need a joystick though (an electronic one, not the organ type :D ) to get the best out of it, controlling a plane realisticly with a keyboard is neigh on impossible. Its got flying lessons as well, which were really handy (but no substitute for the real thing of course, you're not going to be able to fly a 747 instantly), graded up to commercial jet level.

Ok, thats enough going on about how much I love flying, etc. lol.
I forgot to post a picture of the current frontline:

Here is the mission: An intercept. Basically, find some Luftwaffe planes and shoot the hell out of them.

Ever get the feeling you're being watched...

This guys not gonna make it. 1st air kill for me!!

And my reward, for my first ever air kill...

Unfortunately I don't think that anyone from PlanetCricket got any today, but the mission was a total success.

NEWSFLASH:
British Troops Begin Invasion Sector "Q24" ("Calais Invasion Area")

Our superiors are so impressed that we have been ordered to move to Dover Airbase on the southeast coast of England, to assist with the invasion. You can see where the frontline, the white sector, has been pushed almost to Paris by the Americans. This progress is far better than we ever expected. We are assisting the British troops fighting just north of Paris.
