Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

Saw the foul only now, and that clearly deserved a red.

Lol. Never a red but shiz happens, oh well.

Welbeck showed his class again, always improving. Giggs was excellent on the right, did a much better job than Rooney's constant switching off in the first leg.

Maybe I've been playing too much of FM. :p

Yea i'm suspecting this is tactical decision Fergie made after watching the 1st leg. Of course the british press already jumping to solid conclusion that this means the sure end of Rooney @ United.

It's funny - all the commentators and pundits I've heard speak have said it was 'a terrible decision' - the only one who seems to think it was a straight red was Keano.

It was a red by the letter of the law, can see why he gave it, just a bit of common sense was needed, it was obvious it was not intentional though.

Still utd blew it, let the sending off affect them to much, at home as well and with that crowd behind them should of been enough to see them home.

Yep, that wasn't like Utd at all - we went to pieces straight away, Mourinho saw that and put on Modric with perfect timing.

Should be an interesting game in the FA Cup now eh, Lee? ;)

Yeah should be a cracker, with such a big lead in the title race utd can put out a decent side against us, if we turn up its to hard to call, we just don't turn up enough these days.

You'd think Roman could at least afford a decent coach driver.

Or a Satnav.

not sure Keane actually thought it should have been a red. His itv comments to me seemed to be more along the lines of "Nani was an idiot and ran the risk of being sent off needlessly"

he did use the word "deserve", but it seemed that he applied it to the person deserving a red rather than the challenge, which i think keane thinks was marginal.

Yeah, Nani was a bit of a ninny :D to go in so recklessly - I was calling him all sorts of names for the remainder of the match. Just one of those things, isn't it? A footballer has to make quick decisions and Nani happened to make the wrong one.

As others have said though, we definitely shouldn't have gone to pieces like that - it's like the whole team was in some sort of shock! Mourinho wasn't and Real weren't either. Infuriating though because if we could've replicated that sort of form for the remainder of the CL, we'd be in with a great chance of winning it.

Oh well - it'll have to be a Double instead. :)

I don't care who wins, just please don't draw us for the semis(given we get past Barnsley :p).

We'll probably see you in the Final instead. ;)
