Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

I don't how it is advantage Milan, Man U are winning you know. Scholes flick for their second goal was truely sensational, you won't see too many better pieces of skill than that.

Thats about it. Man U have the aggregate lead to their credit.

But Milan

1. Have 2 away goals
2. Are playing at home
3. Are kings of 1-0 victories
4. Have more experienced players suited to the situation

However I think Kaka is a better overall player while Ronaldo has had an excellent season.
Kaka has 8 goals this season and i doubt his assists will be that much better than Ronaldos. Kaka also plays in a worse league than the premiership. Ronaldos been better this year.

United have the momentum, did you miss the fact we scored in the very last minute? If they score then i can't see us struggling to score, every time we put a cross in the box there defence looked untypically shaky especially without Maldini. I'm hoping Gattusos out because him going off made a difference.

Wow, i really enjoyed watching the game last night. Even though i don't like man u, ill always support them and cheer them on in europe. They must be abit gutted though, i thought they played well, and limited milan to just a couple of chances, which they both scored. What an awesome player Kaka is. I was also chuffed for Rooney, as Man u knocked to many long balls into him, meaning he couldn't get a proper impact into the game.

Now, for tonights game. Being a closet chelsea fan im very much looking forward to this, i hope its another cracker of a game, but ultimately i want chelsea to win.

Yeh but currently Ronaldos better. Kakas also a few years older but based upon form oer this season Ronaldos a better player and its this season we're playing in so thast what you judge players on

I went to the match last night. Prawn Sandwich brigade in North and South Stand were quiet as per usual. But the West Stand (Stretford End) (where I was sat), was absolutely rocking. Had a sore throat afterwards and sung with a load of drunks outside the ground:p

Not a good performance in the first half, it was an awful mix up for the 2nd Milan goal.

What about that for a flick though! Brilliant from Scholes, brilliant from Rooney. And the whole place just went mental when Rooney score, unbelievable scenes. I wasn't happy about the people leaving with 8 minutes to go. But to be honest, it served them right. They pay ?30-40 for a ticket, and they should support their team to the very end in such a big and close game.

I think we have a great chance next week. Milan's defence looked very shaky and as long as we dont defend all the time we can get a few away goals. I cant see them getting too many. Also, they'll have to attack next week, so we can counter on the break, we looked dangerous there yesterday, just take a look at the third goal.

Unless Chelsea scramble another goal here I can't see them going through to the final. Liverpool will tear them apart at Anfield.

The recent history between the teams suggest this isn't going to happen

Liverpool in the Champions League at Anfield > Liverpool in the Premiership at Anfield.

Can't rely on history all the time Zim mate. I'd dearly love Liverpool to be beaten, but it's not going to happen.

Very recent history shows it does, we won 2-0 in January :p

Not a great result tonight but ok. Could of probably should of been better. Why the hell Zenden was playing I don't know. He should be back playing for some average club like Newcastle, he isn't good enough for our reserves.

Still I think it's very even going into the second leg as they have the only one goal and we dominated most of the game tonight and only Cech stopped the equaliser. Bring on Anfield!

Hmmm Well I feel if Liverpool could have got an away goal they would have had a better chance of going through but at the moment i feel its pretty even.

Should be a good semi final and it seems made for a typical chelsea performance and grinding out the result. Then again Liverpool aren't that bad in the champions league, yesterday was the first day i've ever thought Crouch playing was the better (yes better, really!) option. His hat-trick the other week against the Arsenal should have earnt him a place in another big game
