Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

Honestly now Manchester United need many many years to settle down and win a champions league again. That is because even though they will get till the quarters or semis next year they will not pass it because there will be a much more experienced side against them like it was Milan today. Again unless if they are lucky and get a fairly loose side.
You can't say we're not going to win yet! It hasn't even started!I don't think theres anyone with the kind of experience that Milan have in European football. To beat them we would have needed no injurys,2nd leg at home and luck

Lets face it though I got the feeling its going to be a 0-0 final!

Im not sure AC will be able to breakdown the Liverpool team this year so easily, also how will they fair against Liverpools new strike force? Bellemy's pace, Kuyt's work-rate, Crouch's height and Fowler's class!

We've already seen Liverpool can net 3 past a still virtually similar AC team.

As much as its revenge time, AC still have all the work to do!

don't forget AC scored 3 against them! i reckon the class of Kaka will be too much even for the likes of Carra who won't be quick enough and will have to rely more on his football brain more than ever

Yes but its not the same defence and its a much better keeper in net too!

All in all like I said 0-0 and to penalties yet again!!

If Milan play like they did in the first half against Liverpool they'll win they were devastating. That was them at their very best and we would have hd to play like we did against Roma to stand a chance. We didn't. I'm not sure They'll be able to do it twice though. tbh i don't now if i could stand all this 6 times crap. The worst thing about this has been trying to explain how you can want to die after a football match to a girl

dudek played brilliantly in the latter half of that game

Very true!

Basically Im now wondering why people speculate on these things?

Anything "could" happen but only what "does" happen WILL!!

Well of course I was speculating too!

Just wonder honestly why we do it....

I'm disappointed with last night but I would have been more if we had lost 1-0 due to a disputed goal. We were outclassed by a world class side. Gattuso was their best player imo, breaking down United's play with aggression and giving it to the Milan players who can do damage. Credit to Paul Scholes for United, gave his all, I think Rooney gave us all too, but it didn't come off too well for him. Giggs had a shocker, Ronaldo didn't get in the game and Carrick had a shocker.

Anyone listen to 6-0-6 phone in last night on 5 live? Some absolute idiot rang in saying that Fergie should go, and our season isn't good enough, absolute rubbish. You don't get 5 points ahead of Chelski by having an inadequate season. We were beaten by the better tean last night, we looked nervy to begin with and that cost us. To be honest, the mistakes in both legs cost us, their 2nd goal in both games.

Something that confused me with the Sky commentary. Before the 3rd Milan goal went in they were saying that 2 United goals were possible. As soon as the 3rd Milan goal went in, they were saying Milan v Liverpool final. I don't know if they were forgetting but the situation hadn't changed so much, 2 United goals would have got the tie into extra time. I guess its irrelevant now.

C'mon Milan in the final! We don't want that bloody ".. times" song!

We're a waaaay better team than in 2005. I'm a lot more confident than in 2005 especialy as the main man for Milan in that final Crespo has gone.

And come on man u fans you don't have to be so bitter, you'd rather have an English team win the champions league rather than some corrupt italian tw*ts?

We're not being bitter, you are our arch rivals, you sing about 5 times in Instanbul, we dont want it to be 6. I supported you on Tuesday night as I thought if we get through then it would be easier to break down you than Chelski. The rivalry is too big for me to support you.

I'll support Milan like I supported Barcelona last year. And if Milan played like they did last night then they'll give the scousers a good thrashing.

But how can you say that??

Man U just played that badly, if Liver pool play even half decent it wont be more than 1-0!!

And Im still gunning for 0-0

Expect Milan to the win the final as well. Liverpool have been better in Europe than United this season but the latter are a much stronger side as is reflected in the Premiership. Having said that I must admit this Liverpool side is better than the one that won two years back with a good defence and a brilliant goalkeeper.

If Maldini returns for the final then its going to be even harder for Liverpool to score.

Trust me the football the Italians displayed in the first half yesterday was nothing short of spectacular. Milan had a bad start to the season but have picked up ever since and are currently in fine form.

Also both teams have just Europe to play for now. Both have pretty much secured qualification to next season's competition and have no chance of winning their respective domestic leagues.

Well,i watched the game this morning(qaurter to five in the morning),and thought that Milan as everyone else has said were brilliant. The way they paced the game and shut down Ronaldo was magnificent. He did not look dangerous at all.It was a rather weird thing to watch. The only player for United who i thought tried was Heinze(Even though he didn't do much,he had to put up with insipid displays from Ronaldo and Rooney).Gattuso was man of the match for me;his closing down of the United midfield and general like nature in midfield was nothing short of amazing.I was a little surprised to read some Man United Supporters saying that they would have been happy with a double at the end of the season?I must have missed something...has United beaten Chelski in the FA Cup final. The arrogance is unbelievable...C'mon you Gunners!
