Kinda destroys the overseas pool for some- so keeping it this way so both teams can utilise the player in every game except one

But it destroys the overseas pool either way, the difference is that players who are locals for one team can play for it. It’s been this way for clashes in every PlanetCricke Champions League, as @Na Maloom Afraad or @VC the slogger will tell you

Also you can do randomizer for each clash and assign a player to the team for that match. Only if you want.

It doesn't really destroy the overseas pool this way- considering both teams get to play that player for literally every game- but one (and that game doesn't even need to be a match-up, with group stage method). It would help both teams test their bench strength in that match if the match-up really even happens. In fact, if we have very little such clashes, I'm planning to group them in opposite groups anyway so that the worst case scenario they would play in a semi-final or something.

Yes, and when I did CLT20 rewind, the rule was that players would always be retained by teams they are local to.

But, it's @Viper.'s league, and we should respect how he wants to run it. I am fine with whatever decision he makes.

Oh ok in that case @mohsin7827 you can even name a fifth OS player over any local there.

And yeah we aren't following the squad rule cause in this case we need backup OS players too so the XI and squad rule won't be the same obviously (Dunno why the real hundred is that way)
