Gareth Hopkins and Rob Quiney power Auckland Aces to a massive 174-run total. Only other batsman to get to two-figures apart from those two was Kyle Mills, thanks to a lusty blow on the final delivery. No other batsman could even reach two-figures and yet Auckland Aces finish with an intimidating total for Chennai Super Kings to chase down in the semi-final.
Shadab Jakati bowled only two overs for Chennai Super Kings but he managed two crucial wickets. His dismissals of Lou Vincent and Colin de Grandhomme were quite significant yet Chennai Super Kings could not capitalize on them instantly. Ravichandran Ashwin and Muttiah Muralitharan - the two strike bowlers for Chennai Super Kings went wicketless. Lakshmipathy Balaji claimed two wickets as well but he conceded runs at 14-an over. This total is going to take some chasing, but Chennai Super Kings definitely have the firepower to achieve it.

Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni guide Chennai Super Kings straight into the final of Champions League with brilliant knocks of 52 and 44 - respectively. Chennai Super Kings put up a herculean effort to chase down 175 against a formidable bowling attack and they successfully achieved it with 5 wickets and 11 deliveries to spare. Suresh Raina's hundred and his partnership with Murali Vijay has put Chennai Super Kings as the definitive favourites to lift the coveted Champions League Twenty20 trophy. Matthew Hayden gave Chennai Super Kings a fiery start, after his dismissal Murali Vijay and Suresh Raina formed an incredible partnership which saw them play almost the entirety of Chennai Super Kings' innings. Murali Vijay held one end safe while Suresh Raina went berserk on the other. A nice little cameo from Subramaniam Badrinath gave Chennai Super Kings a nice finish.
Nothing worked for Hampshire Royals' bowlers this evening. Dimitri Mascarenhas claiming two wickets in between expensive overs was the closest Hampshire Royals' bowling attack got to causing any trouble to Chennai Super Kings. Shahid Afridi, Danny Briggs and Sean Ervine were quite expensive as well despite the pitch being more helpful to spinners than to pace-bowlers.
