Victory! Cape Cobras sneak through for a 3-wicket win in the 18th over against Mountaineers in what turned out to be the first great game of the 2011 edition.
Mountaineers had Cape Cobras in a vice but could not get the job done. They were so close to pulling off an unimaginable upset, but the Cobras held their nerves.
A stalwart fifty at the top from Graeme Smith kept Cape Cobras in line with the chase while wickets tumbled around him, until Justin Ontong came out to bat.
Smith and Ontong added 97 runs for the 5th wicket and salvaged Cape Cobras from 37 for 4, and pushed them towards the 146-run target set by Mountaineers.
Both batsmen lost their wickets in the space of 4 balls, Justin Kemp followed soon, swinging the momentum of this game completely in favour of Mountaineers.
But Vernon Philander's outburst killed all of Mountaineers' hopes as he scored the remaining 14 runs in just 5 deliveries, right after Justin Kemp's dismissal.
