The fact that the runners up in the Irish One Day tournament are denied participation in this really takes away the importance of it

I didn't want to make this tournament too long by including so many teams. Instead I kept the 8 teams that were announced BEFORE the Irish One-Day Tournament even began. Besides, it's better to keep them for the next CL given the state of the league section.

BACKGROUND

Karachi Kings will face a familiar foe in Islamabad United during the Champions League X8 preseason. Islamabad United beat Karachi Kings in Haier Cup Pakistan V.
However, Islamabad failed to qualify for the final and thus, CLX8. Islamabad are the only team to beat Karachi apart from the eventual winners - and Lahore.

Two of the biggest cricketing cities will square-up against each other as Durban Lions take on Melbourne Storm from ELA VII at the National Stadium in Karachi.
It is only fitting that this game is going to be played at the highest capacity cricket ground in the country. A proper marquee matchup - Melbourne v Durban.

- This will be Melbourne's first CL appearance in any capacity since Season III, where they coincidentally finished 3rd.
