After winning the toss and rightly choosing to bat first, Melbourne Storm got off to the worst start possible, losing both of their opening batsmen for naught.
But a resilient fightback from Kane Williamson and Peter Handscomb revived Storm's innings after that horrid start, caused by Kagiso Rabada and Morne Morkel.

Peter Handscomb was run out in the 9th over by Rahmat Shah, as Melbourne were 52/3. Glenn Maxwell was the next man in, and boy does Durban wish he wasn't.
Maxwell and Williamson added a 203-run partnership for the 4th-wicket, taking Melbourne Storm from their paltry 52/3 to a paramount 255/3 by the 39th over.

Unfortunately for Storm, Maxwell lost his wicket on the last ball of the 39th over. He had already completed his hundred by that point and was dismissed on 111.
Williamson lost his wicket two overs later on 98. Durban were able to pull things back towards the end, allowing Storm to only score 46 runs in the last 9.0 overs.

The absence of Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir really affected Melbourne Storm's bowling as proven by Durban Lions' chase of a 316-run target in just 46.1 overs.
Aiden Markram's 78-ball 80, Faf du Plessis' 70-ball 86 and AB de Villiers' 65-ball 63 was more than sufficient to guide Durban Lions over the crossing line.

Tom Cooper also chipped in with 38 from 29 deliveries, right at the end to help Durban pick-up their run-rate and win before it went right down to the wire!
Billy Stanlake struck early to remove Quinton de Kock, but Storm could not capitalize on that. He finished with two scalps to his name, most by any Storm player.

MELBOURNE STORM 315/7 50.0 overs

Durban Lions won by 5 wickets (with 23 balls to spare)

Initially though Maxwell and Williamson took the match away from us. Great run chase by the Lions, Du Plessis, Markram and ABD didn't disappoint :clap Good warmup match, hope we can continue with this form.

The collapse at the end shouldn’t have happened, really.

Shubman Gill's steady 67 at the top, and cautious fifties from Marnus Labuschagne and Glenn Maxwell pushed Chennai to a total of 279 before being bowled-out.
Only four players in the Super Kings' lineup were able to cross into the double-figure mark, and those four players pushed Super Kings to a competitive total.

Ravindra Jadeja starred with the ball, picking-up 4 wickets, crucially dismissing Maxwell and Labuschagne in the same over to completely jolt Chennai's progress.
After their pairing was brought to a screeching halt, Jadeja, Shaheen and Saini cleaned-up the lower-order and tail to bowl-out Chennai within their 50.0 overs.

Rajasthan Royals win comfortably, chasing the 280-run target down with 19 balls and 6 wickets to spare, scoring their third win over Chennai in the List-A format.
Literally every player in the Royals' batting line delivered and contributed with invaluable runs with Martin Guptill at the top anchoring the innings throughout.

David Warner's early blitz got Rajasthan off to a quick start. Nitish Rana and Ankit Bawne carried their IODC form here and played pivotal knocks to close the gap.
MS Dhoni then pushed his team over the finishing line with a fine fifty. Yuzvendra Chahal was the most effective bowler for the Super Kings, but it was all in vain.

Let’s go!

Will be my first time managing a ZPL side. Cmon guys! We can win this.

Yes, perfect warmup and it is nice to see everyone contributing. This is what won us the IODC and this is what will hopefully help us win this too. This team is very close to the heart and they have always delivered. Hopefully this league will be the one to remember as was IODC campaign of RR.

Two century-bond stands tonked by our batsmen and getting out back to back happened 2 times today (Gill-Iyer , Maxwell-Marnus) . Maxwell & Marnus getting out in the same over was a setback . One of them could've survived for 5 more overs , the result would ......

Bowlers couldn't pick wickets in the powerplay , which later strengthened their batting . Chahal was the lone performer . Spinners bowled well while giving a run a ball 120 runs in 20 overs . And Dhoni , once set , takes it to the end eventually ....

So , that makes it 3-0 in Rajasthan's favour ...
