Hey guys,
Another problem up against time, and it's of that I personally, very much, prioritize for working in the web. Bookmarks.
I've been using Google Chrome for good few months and I browse very much and that leads me to bookmark quite frequently.... and as recently as friday, nearly about 500-600 bookmark 'folders' vanished out of nowhere from it.
That day, I was browsing fine on chrome and all the bookmarks were intact and there and I was rendering some of my design stuff on the PC. Apparently there was a power cut and I had to shut the PC down. It was only after 5 minutes the power was back and I switched the PC back on and started chrome to browse a few sites. Dang. No bookmarks. Plain as space. I've been in a turmoil since then.
IIRC, Chrome was not open before the shut down took place, I closed it quite early before the power cut so there's no question of software errors or undesired termination, if any causing before the shut down.
I tried a few answers from around the web, have done replacing the backup file with the original, and it wasn't too well since I've opened up chrome after the bookmarks vanished so I probably think the backup file, too must've been replaced by the fresh one with no bookmarks in it. No luck there.
But on a positive note, ONLY the bookmarks vanished, the rest of the preferences are safe and sound. The history and everything. At least that helps me stay aloft from crying again and that's the thing which has been bugging on me too. WHY only bookmarks? Because every file relating to the browser's preferences stays in the same folder as bookmarks.
I've also done few recovery tests, and not avail as yet.
So please don't mind if this takes long, but please help me out with reasonable answers or none. I've had enough of short and simple answers like "go on buddy, start anew. No other option. They've vanished and dusted." I didn't type all this thing to get that sort of replies. If any answer, I'd appreciate it. If you don't have any, cheers for reading 'til here.
This is seriously important, I can't work out again on 600 folders and they containing a million other tabs as well.
Regards,
KBC.
