Not really a surprise IMO - time for him to go definitely...

Colly didn't look happy discussing the captaincy issue on Cricket on Five though! :p

I think Vaughan has had a mixed time, at best with this team - he is a far better Test Captain.

You can't be in side just because you're captain. You need to contribute with either the bat or ball.

This could be just the thing that the one day side needs to rejuvenate things. My monies on Collingwood to be named captain.

I agree with what is being said but Im afraid Im not a very big fan of having different captains for the different forms of the game.

Its difficult for the players to adjust to a different captain. Nasser Hussain realised that in 2003.

I hope Kevin Pietersen or Paul Collingwood get the job.

Aye, about time he decided to do this, if anything to prolong his test career.
Collingwood for the captaincy.

Collingwood for captain; No brainer really. He's been England's best ODI player for a good few years now.

Never rated Vaughan as an Odi batsmen, how can you with an average of 26? Hopefully Cook will come into the side now, he's so young but hes porven he can cut it so now would be the time for him to learn the shorter form of the game

Yeah, this is good news and good to see the Vaughan realizes probably that this is for the best not only for him but also for English cricket. Personally, I would have Pietersen as captain, as he would signalize a new era and a more positive era for English one-day cricket. It will be Collingwood though I imagine. About the different captains for different forms of the games, I believe this could work as as long as the players are professional and respect either forms of the game, it will work out fine.

I hope Collingwood gets the job, because I think he will be percieved as less of a threat to Vaughan fo test captaincy. Vaughan getting the ODI job was the beginning of the end for Nasser Hussain, and the same risk is here too, but I think it would be more exaggerated of Pietersen got the job (not a derogatory comment to Pietersen - he's our best player and we need him. Vaughan and Colly are mates so will hopefully work well side by side).

Also, Collingwood is not a star player in the sense that he always hogs the headlines a lá Pietersen or Flintoff. He's a good, down to earth cricketer.

Putting Flintoff in the same category as Peterson for Attention isn't on with me...but actually, I WAS surprised. Not necessarily upset, just surprised. I would like to see Collingwood get the job. His fielding has been particularly impressive of late, and he's been competent with bat and ball. @ vaughan: Actually, wouldn't having captains with different insights make sense? It's two very different forms of the game, with varying strategies...

Brilliant descion i just hope he isnt in the team anymore

He may as well have just retired. I don't see him being selected really. They should try Pietersen in my opinion. Collingwood already has his batting and bowling to worry about, plus I don't like him.

I like Strauss most, but he's not a certainty in the side either.

Collingwood is the clear choice he has a level head unlike pietersen
