Story Common Story - Discussion Thread

It's good to see that the staff is taking action to increase the activity in the stories section after the recent activity hasn't been satisfactory. I'd love to take part if that brings the activity back in this section.

One thing I intend to know is, will the story be based on real life tours/series or will it be a virtual story?

yeah! It will be quite impressive just like online gameplay but how could the series will begin it will be brilliant if we use the same roster for the series! For example ''PCvXa'' or another those friends who takes part please every one use the same roster update!!!

@Ahmad - That's up to the story writers. If by virtual stories, you mean we will create unique tours then that isn't such a bad idea. For instance, Ashes 2013 wont be a virtual story but it will be a future tour. Career stories though can be called as virtual stories. Basically, it's up-to the story writers as to what kind of story they want to write. To begin with, I'd recommend by planning to run a short story (tours) to understand how a story is written. Good luck! :)

@Saqib afridi - In order for anyone to continue a match - update it, they must have the same roster as the other person who initiated the story. If not, the game will probably crash.

For now, it will be a RL series which will either be ongoing or future or recently concluded. If this gets going, and people are more interested in stories, we can look to start common threads for say particular teams and even career diaries. All depends on how this things pans out. Hopefully, we will see some old and new members taking an active part.

To curb all the questions and give everyone an idea of what exactly they need to do to run their part in the story, how about staff members start a story and do a couple of updates for the members to see what exactly is required to do.

I think that's explained pretty well in the announcement. And, there are so many stories for the members to look at if they want to see how a story should be written. Hall of fame thread is the best source. Staff will initiate the story and we might update it as well in the middle if any of us wants to. The real motive of this apart from bringing back activity in the story forum is to have members' involvement to the maximum. As most of the people are busy and they can't keep going with their story, we have come up with this thing.

I see staff involvement as a discouraging sign tbvh. The more members participate, the more they learn. If we keep on updating, I don't see how members will learn. I'd rather have you guys post updates and provide my feedback/appreciation than me or Aditya posting updates for you to learn/see. Having said that, we are always happy to help you guys out. Before posting an update, you can PM us and we can suggest you ways of improvement, if any.

Thanks for explaining everything so well, that just about answers all the queries I had in mind. :thumbs

This idea is good and was stated once long ago by Surender but Tom regretted it. Now User has brought it in limelight. Hope the stories section is back active 'cause of this.

Yeah, staffs should initiate this otherwise this idea will be a scrap. No member is going to take the first step without seeing the progress. I agree that the members should have the maximum opportunity to post but it's in the hands of staff to kick off the story and get things move.

A couple of suggestions from Tim here:

1. Implement a "first in best dressed" system where anyone can update the story without having to book the update in advanced.

2. Remove the need for a sim, cricket games are often very restrictive and the complexity of cricket that makes it enjoyable is often lost. I reckon members could make up very exciting sets of 10 overs of cricket off the top of their heads.

Thanks for your input, Tim. :)

1. Implement a "first in best dressed" system where anyone can update the story without having to book the update in advanced.

The thing to book the update is put in place because someone knows he is only doing it. If we don't have it, many (might not be) people may prepare an update and when someone else posts it, their efforts will go in vain.

This can be done. Only thing is, the whole match would then have to be done like that.

we will did the same that friends talked about but there is a lot of cheaters! How can you choose the winner? For Example if a team scored 128/6 in 20 overs the b team scored 127 or less then he tries again and he gets it. What could be the solution of this problem???
