amen brother, everyone is so quick to point out the bad, but NEVER, NEVER point out the good performances...angryangy said:It's depressing when a batsman with a first class average around 50 is discussed as a specialist bowler.
"failed in every innings bar 3" - keep in mind, the best batsman still 'fail' in 3 quarters of their innings.
What relevance does a FC average have when his averaging a lazy 29 as opener and apparently the team does better with him opening over a guy whose averaging close to 50 in this series and has a FC & Test average of over 50 anyway?angryangy said:It's depressing when a batsman with a first class average around 50 is discussed as a specialist bowler.

We're in the business of writing people off after 8 ODI's opening the batting? For the record Hayden had passed 20 twice after 10 innings, with one 50 coming off 100 balls. Of the times Watson has opened he's been out mostly trying to up the run rate too early in his innings, that's just inexperience- he's also been scoring his runs at around a run a ball. It's a shame he got injured when he did or his opening spot would probably be cemented by now.wfdu_ben91 said:What relevance does a FC average have when his averaging a lazy 29 as opener and apparently the team does better with him opening over a guy whose averaging close to 50 in this series and has a FC & Test average of over 50 anyway?
Well that can be pretty tough if they bowl outside off stump and put 50 fielders on the off side in the circle like that have been doing latelyJohn Adams said:Meh it just seems lately that Hayden and Gilley are trying to be too flamboyant. A four along the carpet, is much safer and more classier than a six, and you can't get caught!

I'd love to see Tait, he seems to enjoy bowling half volleys to our batsmen!
