Commonwealth Bank Series

doesn't matter if he's got no-one to bat with.we'll see who wins the world cup because i can't be having this discussion for another month :p Monty still to bowl this is our game now.

As long as Hodge is there this game is going nowhere.

And what does Watson's FC average have to do with anything when he's playing an ODI game?

see why didn't we play like this in the ashes! Flintoff is bowling top class. we are a good side!

We haven't bloody won the CBS yet! England lack a killer instinct in ODIs and I wouldn't be surprised at all if Watson and Hodge are there at the end.

I prefer the term inconsistent but meh, whatever floats you're boat.

like i said the required run rate is 6 and over roughly and no more batsmen left after this! its not over but we are in trouble...

Whilst I will admit I haven't rated JD much, he does seem to be improving as a batsman in Odis, seems quite able to score reasonably quickly and early in his innings. However his bowling has unfortunately gotten worse.

Judging by his stats before he came to Australia, I thought he was quite handy, but if this series is anything to judge by, he is just another simply not good enough English "spare parts" player.

He came in with 22 overs to go, that's an example of what happens when he can build an innings more than anything.
Well let's see it!

I still believe were in this if Watson bats to his potential and Hodge keeps smacking boundaries.

At the moment, this is like the Melbourne Bitters losing to the Supersoakers. Brad's gone out for a duck, I've made about 5 or 6 and Duff is batting with the tail!

Hodge is looking in good touch, Watson just needs to survive through a spell of Monty then we will have a chance.

i can't disagree with that one. when KP comes back i just hope we don't rely on him to score our runs again.Bring on Monty!

30 overs to get 180 more with 4 wickets in hand, thats 5.5 an over, we are in trouble

I believe that we are still a chance. Hodge is in great form, he just needs to believe that he can play at this level, and is starting to, and Watson can build an innings here, which is what he is more suited to, instead of the late innings slog, which his position forces him to. Hogg is in good form with the bat, and Lee has gotten us out of trouble in the past, so not all hope is lost.
