I desperately want Cricket 2002, but have to ensure that I can play it on my Toshiba notebook before buying it. I downloaded the demo version, but get no further than a flash of black as it (seems to) attempt to initialise the graphics adapter.

The Toshy's got the 32MB GeForce4 420 Go and I've installed the latest NVidia drivers, 43.45, but I still get the same thing. The only thing I can think of is that I'm running Windows 2003 Server, but I cannot see this causing too much trouble.

Is the demo version buggy or a fair representation of the final code?

As I've said, I really want to get this game going so anything you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thx

UPDATE: I found the problem wasn't just with Cricket 2002, but all games that I tried to run. I found that despite running DirectX 9.0 and the latest NVidia drivers, Direct3D still wasn't available - checked through Dxdiag.exe.

I installed XP Pro back on the notebook and everything worked out fine so I went out and grabbed the full version of the game.
