Update
I have expanded the search for c++ jockeys to beyond this forum... there are a number of people who are really possibilities of getting on board, but I need to develop things with them further first.
The great news is, that it really does look like this is the only area in which we are deficient in this project atm (We will
never have enough researchers though!!!).
We have had heaps of volunteers put their hands up to do all sorts of things from physics to research and plenty in between.
But before we can give anyone a definitive answer to 'what do you need?' we need to finalise our c++ programmers - everything will stem from that. Obviously the more programmers we have on board, the less time the game will spend in development, but there is going to be a minimum number of coders required before we can even begin or else the workload will be just too large.
I am sure you will be all pleased to know that the number of required coders is at such a number because of the enormity of all of the aspects I have placed into the design document that we want to include in the game.
Once the coding phase has been appropriately planned (the structure of how everything will be done before a single key is pressed in anger) I will look to do a number of things (in no particular order):
- Start discussions with publishers. I have identified four publishers who are ideal for this project.
- Get a website up and running
- List as many features that will be included in the game as I can realistically make public.
- Let all of you know about it.
This is where the game was really born after all.
- Round up everyone who put their hand up for research. I will need to assign some tasks quite early on in the piece so as the 3D Modellers can get to work.
- Round up everyone who put their hand up for 3D and texturing so they can start toying with the research data (it shouldn't take too much of a leap of the imagination to discern what the early research will entail).
- Bug a site admin to create a new forum for the game.
In an another development I have started discourse with a 'body' in regards to licencing and endorsement. I simply cannot go any further than that in regards to details at the moment, but as with everything else, you will always be the first to know (after the team of course
).
I am curious to know how important people think obtaining an official licence is (So we can use real player names and likenesses as opposed to the PES option of calling Warne, Worn). I don't wanna hear, 'yeah it is important,' I want to hear why you think it is/is not for now. This isn't a reflection on how the discussions I just mentioned are going btw - I am just curious.
