Cricket 24 - General Discussion

30 mins away from store

Your journey is more exciting than the your destination. I am hoping you'll take a day off tomorrow and live stream. Come on, man, you deserve it and you owe us. I don't know how, but you do.

IF this is the same after the update then even I who does have a big soft spot for BA can't defend it. I spend every year trying to maximize what each game can do.

But that's inexcusable and would suggest that most gameplay feedback is simply ignored.

Made even worse by revamped fielding being a selling point. It was a selling point last year and they couldn't stop the ball on release.
Agree I was buying tomorrow regardless as long as the fielding was “revamped.” After watching that I’m going to wait a while it’s basic stuff like picking the ball up at speed if they can’t fix that they need to pack it in

Its not the build that is old, this is C22 with being sold as C24.

I’ve generally been polite over that fact. :p

And I’m still getting responses of me being extremely critical towards the game and being judgmental in the absence of proof.

Sorry if this has been asked before (I'm a bit out of touch with cricket gaming), but does 24 have any:

- New stadiums?
- An improved stadium editor?
- Rain delays?
- County championship licences?

Not comparing apples to peaches here, as I'm a PC Master race myself. But it's sad to see an android game with fraction of the budget and team having better player expressiveness and overall feel. Ofcourse an android game has much fewer features to deal with, but they focused on nailing them, instead of having non-reactive robot players and randomly squatting wicketkeepers.

I apologize I'm ranting and whining, but it's just that I can't keep my nerves calm from the disappointment after a long anticipation.

Here are my thoughts about what's going on with the game.. Being part of the testing team for few games I have seen how passionate they are as a team to get things implemented.. But there always comes a time where they have to stop patching the game and I have felt that they could have done more because the game never reaches its true potential in my opinion which annoys me. But one thing I have seen is they make the game better to a level where you feel the game has got a good leap from previous version..
Cricket 22 to me is a great base to work with and enhance the next version but that means carrying the good stuff with polishing and adding in new stuff to get the feel of new game.. The decision of UI to become a priority which I would hardly be giving any time looking at when compared to new HUD which I would be using and looking a lot , feels a poor decision.. Will blame the coin toss as Matt mentioned..
The question is what is good and what needs to improve in terms of gameplay is decided by the mass and the mass always leans to looks than the core gameplay tweaks which makes the process to get the game where it should lead to harder as well..
Pitches as Wealey dreams of day and night, where the surface behaves differently that you need to make appropriate decisions to get a good match, bat cautiously etc needs to be added.. There is no dead pitch where you can easily score 350+ or a surface where it's swinging too much, spinning too much.. Making us take decisions to actually put a thought on what the playing 11 combination should be needs to be there.. Sessions affected by rain, moisture in the pitch, low bounce, cracks opening up and a serious session of only pace bowling from AI and us trying to simply get through the session and survive is all missing.. Nothing feels different in those aspects..
Faint edges, LBWs, batsman not holding his position regardless of what the timing or shot I play would make it possible but is the engine capable of that or is that a priority at all is all a question that remains unanswered and goes unnoticed because something else takes priority and they patch that up and move on..
So will they be able to get that kind of leap possible is to be seen but if they dont add a new HUD the game would always feel like Cricket 22 mentally and that doesn't feel good for people who spend money on the game.. The replays, the toss, the highlights all should get a makeover in an addition to what was already there otherwise it simply feels like "They could have made this as a DLC for Cricket 22 than making it a new game for 2 years"..
I will always be a guy who prioritises gameplay over anything.. Visual things matters a lot but to replicate the physics behind the game in getting a proper edge, in missing the ball, in getting deceived by deviation and not going through it..
I also have seen they did not assign footwork properly to certain shots which also makes certain shots a mess but again something that ends up going under the carpet.. Why am I saying these things is because I am passionate about the game and I want the game to do well both for the company and for the people who purchase it..

Another gameplay video. Inner circle fielding looks good.
Apart from looking exactly similar to Cricket 22, a major thing that kept playing in my mind is the gameplay lighting and rendering doesn't look anywhere near the screenshots.

PS. same old Kane Williamson :p
Game version is 0.2.0886

5 overs cricket24 match
Game version made available in showcase of Indian edition is 0.2.1208 and MattW mentioned last 4 digits for tomorrow PS5 release is 1414... also there is Day 1 patch too... so hoping many bugs we see in this video's might not be found tomorrow...

You still wont have the patch so your still useless to us haha! Just as useless as your source!

I do take your opinion seriously so I’m asking you this; do you really believe in a day one patch miraculously fixing the myriad long standing issues in the series and also the ones we’ve witnessed in these videos so far? Day One patches have done a lot of the heavy lifting in other games but they’ve almost never turned something flawed into an enjoyable experience.

Patch will be out by the time he gets home from the sounds of it.

Maybe he’s one of the hobbits heading home from Mordor.

No,

But I do believe a lot of the issues we have can be fixed as I have first hand been part of that process.

Unless the coding just simply won't allow it.

For example I have witnessed Matt tweaking game builds at 2am his time for me to tests in my daytime.

They work hard

In spite of all his lies about inside sources, I genuinely hope, after a days work, a four-hour round trip to the shop that @TemPSaad gets home and enjoys himself. More likely, he ends up falling asleep like Bavuma.
