Cricket 24 - General Discussion

Was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to used saved custom fields? I've made a couple but don't know how to select them in game.
Anyone able to help please? I'm not sure how to do it and not having any luck finding the answer.

I have done it in cricket 22 where you can go to field editor in the menu and create custom fields and save it. We could assign it for the AI to use it if I recall correctly.

I've done all that. My issue is I can't seem to select them to use when I'm bowling. Don't really want to have to do it in game every time I want to use them and they don't show up as an option in the list of presets while in game.

I will check this next time I boot up the game

Quick one just to check as I'd not seen anything or an announcement.

Did Ultimate Team ever make it into Cricket 24 as planned? If so, is it any good?

I see from social posts they finally put it into AFL, but I haven't seen anything else.

Assume BA are still stupidly stretched trying to do AFL, Cricket, Tennis, Rugby etc.

I guess I saw one of the tweets from BA or Ross about Pro team.. they said it will come sometime during IPL 2025..

I am sure it will come because its a revenue stream for them.Personally having paid 49.99 for afl 23 they aren't getting another penny from me.Not a big fan of the whole pro team thing anyway.Soon time to change the logos and sell cricket 26 .Next ashes series is literally 1 year from today.

Just some things I'm hoping for in the next game.
Medium-Fast option. Too much gap between Medium and Fast-Medium.
Better speeds for the slower ball. There's barely any noticeable difference sometimes.
More outfield catches would be great.
More variations and speed differences for spinners.
Stumpings in Test cricket could happen slightly more often. I've played nearly 100 Tests and only had 1 stumping.
Fielding obviously needs a big upgrade.
Commentary could also use an upgrade.
Most important thing for me though, we must be able to edit licenced players again.

Well I asked Ross to introduce AI driven live commentary and he liked my comment on twitter , not sure if it's practically possible but it will definitely sort all the commentary issues in every sports game.

It's only a revenue stream if people are still playing though. 0 x 1,000,000 is still zero and it feels like they've probably missed the boat on this one.

Not sure on the number of active players right now, but I'd be highly surprised if it's not a very low number.

This is a pretty familiar list now. Going back 2 or 3 iteration, it's all the same stuff. My hunch is that the engine in its current state just isn't capable of a lot of these things now.

With the current plans for release cycles, plus the other games now smushed into their timelines, as well (AFL, Tennis, Rugby etc.) I'd be surprised if they have the time and capacity to tear it up and start again, but it's probably what is needed at this stage, unless they can port anything across from their other releases.

I'd take a guess that 76-80mph/120-130kph bowlers probably accounts for a third of professionals.

I wonder if real slower balls variations, like Tymal Mills who go from 140kph to 110kph regularly, would be too difficult and potentially be a problem for AI batting. It would be good if slower balls speed range scaled up with difficulty.
More variations and speed differences for spinners.
Like the above, I wonder if too much variation would be detrimental to how people play the game.
One thought I did have would be having flight and bounce skills impact speed. Higher flight skill = lower speed when used, higher bounce skill = faster speed when used.

I'm not sure we are likely to see a Dan Mousley type spinner whose average speed is 70mph. These sort of things are where having more depth to 'build' players independently from just skill points would probably be better. That would probably require a major overhaul if it was even feasible.
