Cricket 24 - General Discussion

- the games vs AI and Vs human are 9 overs long meaning games take an hour to play. I rarely have time to put an hour aside to play a game that I can't pause and save so the model doesn't work. The beauty of FIFA ultimate team is I can play 2/3 games within an hour, do some SBCs and log off. On pro team I'm playing an 18 over match for an hour where I'll likely earn ~1500 currency. A "silver pack" costs 4700 currency. So I have to put around 5 hours of my time in to open a pack which will likely not improve my team.
This is ultimately a problem with making sports that aren't time-limited into video games. Football can be reduced to a quasi-highlights length and still feel like football. But with what you could call 'unit-limited' games like cricket or tennis, a full match is always a full match whether it's 50 overs per side or 1 over per side. Then it's a case of how much can you change it to make it still feel like cricket.

For pro-team it sounds similar to what I used to play at primary school (I hit a 50 in the three overs we had once :goggle:) except both teams would start on 200. Perhaps they could find ways to speed the gameplay up or reduce the time in between each delivery.

I actually think, in terms of short formats the 6ixty was smart in giving teams only 6 wickets. Then having things like bonus powerplays.

Yeh I agree, top spins online mode wasn't actually horrible , best of 3 sets with 3 games taken the set, the final set would be a champions tie break, game would take not much longer than a game of FIFA.

A big problem with the format in pro team is you HAVE to play all 9 overs, so If I restrict my opponent to 30 off 9 overs , if I chase after 3 overs, I have still have to play out the remaining 6 overs.

I am positive they will tinker with it, but yeh they need to reduce time between deliveries as well as only allowed a certain amount of field changes etc.

The fixed overs, with runs deductions instead of being out, works when you're looking to give all kids in a team a chance to do something, but I think with an online, casual experience it could feel like a grind, if it takes longer than 30 minutes. I suppose there's a possibility that they could take wickets to turn it around but surely if you reach the total you could just spam defend for the rest of the innings.

They could make little tweaks by taking inspiration from the real world, five-ball overs from The Hundred, reduced wicket numbers like the 6ixty. You could have a one-time option to bring a batter back even if they're out. You could go to 8 overs and four pairs with two overs (or maybe one pair gets to bat twice). If you had 8 overs of 5 balls that's 80 ball matches instead of 108 which is quite a big reduction.

All good ideas. They have to do something because right now there is no real skill gap and the games are long and boring meaning theres no incentive to buy packs with "real money" which defeats the whole purpose of the model.

Best is to give all modes
1 over 3 over ,5 overs 9 over 10 15 20 40 50
Some does not has time and many have ample of time so we choose acording to our time.

Played a couple of Pro team games, a few observations.

  • I think difficulty is pretty balanced, makes for a good experience.
  • The mode is really fun, yes it takes about 45 minutes but this is the only way to keep players from spamming loft, value their wickets and play to the merit of the ball.
  • The game needs a dynamic wide ball line, I was matched with a player who was playing on wide ball line and there's really no way to counter that as a bowler.
  • Short cover is over powered, just like slip fielders. Keep a short leg, short mid off, point, deep extra cover and a 3rd slip with a spin bowlers and keep bowling outside off. The batter 8/10 times plays in the hands of covers, no matter where you aim the stick or how good the timing is. The above mentioned field is literally unplayable.
These were some of my observations, and I'm really impressed with Pro Team (apart from the gameplay bugs, the idea of this seems really good)

In the challenge mode in Pro team, it says Match lost even if I win the match. Has happened three times in a row. Has anyone experienced it ?

Dynamic wide ball if implemented would make the online game fair

What difficulty are you guys seeing on pro mode? Mine feels similar to hard, but my friend says it’s like easy difficulty for him.

yes and when they QUIT after 2 overs and the game says "You win by forfeit" I get a loss recordin

I raised a ticket to big ant and this is what they have to say,

"This is a known issue the team is looking into. We hope to have this sorted as soon as possible.
