Cricket Coach 2007 - first opinions and thoughts

So far, ive noticed that there seems to be a tendency for teams to collapse very quickly, ie australia from 218-2 to 278 all out chasing 300, and similar, wickets seem to be falling in huge clumps, bracketed by huge partnerships.

The other thing I've noticed is that all coach names are misspelled, i assume this is deliberate. COuld I suggest/request that we be able to edit their names as we wish in the name editing screen, alongside the players (unless of course there is a licensing issue?).

Other than that, mostly positive., 7.5/10, compared to 5.5-6/10 for cricket coach pro.

First empressions are great! Love the game. Great match play and love the off field stuff as well. But Everytime I come back to my desktop when I go back to the game it closes down. Anyone know why that is?

From what I've played so far, this is an excellent game. I thought Cricket Coach Pro was an awesome effort, but this is beyond that! Well done guys at Rockingham Software. A definite buyer here (as soon as possible)

Yes. Its fantastic, i will definately buy it as soon as i can, could someone tell me how long the demo lasts for?

I have to say the fixtures are wrong, and despite me saying about 3 or 4 times that the fixtures are wrong, you have blatantly ignored it and gone ahead and put the wrong tour schedueles into the game. However so far it's been good in the gameplay experience, although I've noticed a couple of blips. For example Australia and the West Indies both scored over 600 in their first innings of a test match, and three completed FP Trophy 50-over scores were 225-4, 250-2 and 240-4, these are unrealistic scores and could do with a patch up, otherwise it's a good start. However I think you've gone from the Twenty20 scores being too low last year to them being too high this year, in the international series mode I managed to score 288-2 from 20 overs on full aggression, you've almost got it right but could do with it just a bit in the middle. Otherwise it's fine, and good to see that the international squad selection is realistic unlike last year.

Still a bit of work to do, but a definite improvement on last year.

This is a known problem that has emerged in the past few days - we'll be addressing it with a patch. Playing in windowed mode should fix this (assuming you are alt+tabbing out of the game?)

Unfortunately we went gold around the time you posted those so it wasn't possible to correct them. Hopefully we'll get clearance to do so with a patch.

Just a slight exaguration about the bowling talents of Rikki Clarke...:p

On a more serious note, its a big bug as he bowled 14 overs and took 11 wickets in a One Day game:rolleyes:

Here is the HTML output from the match

Hmm...I just sat through an innings of 842 by Somerset and there were no 3s at all. Not one! There were loads of oppurtunities to get 3s but the batsmen always settled for 2 runs. Is it possible to score 3s or are they just extremely rare? In either case I think it's something that should be looked at.

If you manage to score 1137 you haven't declared at the right time. There is simply no point in batting for so long.

One thing I have noticed is the abnormal amount of overs being bowled in a day's play. I was Somerset in a County Championship game and there were 130 overs bowled in day 1, as opposed to 104 in real life. In the two-player mode, would it be possible to put domestic teams in there for the future?

I've just had a ridiculous situation where I had Nottinghamshire at 262-7, still needing 157 to avoid an innings defeat, and somehow Franks and Swann batted out almost two sessions to save the game.

Why not? I won the game quite comfortably. The fact is I could have kept going a lot longer, as I was only 6 down. I suppose I could have declared at lunch on day 3, but wanted to see how far I could go. Just because it I could declared earlier doesn't make it any more realistic- to score 1100 runs in two days is unusual to say the least. As for Khan's innings- fair enough it does happen sometimes (Lara with his 501 actually happened so it is feasible). The fact that I am not the only person to have broken this batting record since the game has come out suggests to me there is a balancing issue.
