What I might recommend doing is playing as an Australian state team, and hopefully you get offered the coaching job for Australia - I'm trying that with Islamabad, but so far no offers yet

This game is laden with bugs.

Shouldn't have released it if the game was in such a state. First impressions count for everything and many people may be put off from shelling out ?20 for this now. The problem is that Oli can later claim to have removed such fundamental flaws, but we'd hardly have a way of confirming this unless we go buy the game, seeing as our trials would have run out by the time these bugs would have been fixed.

Amazing concept, poor execution.

And, ICC09 will be great in some ways, yet poor in others.

I just find it hilarious the way in which people think every game is going to be amazing. The simple fact is that no game will ever reflect how real cricket is played and that's that. The fact that this game has been made by one man alone is an incredible achievement. I may just buy it to do my part in paying abck the obvious time and effort he has put into it. Stop slagging off a game that you couldn't get anywhere near completing let alone making it as good as this.

Not downloaded the trial yet, may do in a few days when I get a good chance to play it.

I wouldn't even consider buying it as it is at the moment, yes well done to Oli for putting a game together by himself but the truth of the matter is that the game doesn't work it constantly crashes, has poor gameplay and seems rushed. Also I know I couldn't make a game but it still doesn't mean I'd buy something that doesn't work.

Yeh, you can respect a guy for making a game himself and then still point out it's flaws. There's no need to completely kiss the guys ass, but I'm sure he knows himself that it's buggy as heck, I just wanna know how he managed to test it to check it worked ok without unearthing any of these bugs. Having the game freeze everytime you go to make a double bowling change or bring a spinner into the attack is incredibly frustrating.

And therein lies the problem. I understand where you are coming from treva, and perhaps some of the criticism levelled at Oli is unfair, but this still appears to be a highly dysfunctional game. No one coerced Oli into releasing an unfinished game and sadly first impressions count for everything- if we can't even get a working demo then it is highly unlikely that the majority will blindly shell out ?20 at this moment.

I made a post on the CC forums that I'd like to share here. It is specifically aimed at those who haven't had a chance to try out the game for themselves and therefore seem bemused by the criticisms:

"The bugs are profound. But rather than having a go, let's be constructive about this.

From a Pakistani viewpoint, there are many aspects that need to be looked at, Oli. The most worrying of this is the fact that you can't even play a Pakistani career mode- I'm asked to select my squad for the Australia tour and then can't even advance into the 1st ODI. On a more minor note, you've got the Pak-Aus series taking place in Pakistan- it actually took place in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The Pakistani central contracts need to be updated- I offered to help you with the Pakistani database but you seemed to have ignored my post.

I also tried a career with Habib Bank, with little improvement. Turns out that the financial situation is dire and you are grossly over the allowed budget, which means that any players that are running out of contract at the beginning of the season become free agents and get bought by other teams and there is nothing you can do about it- I lost Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan and Imran Nazir in one fell swoop. This is is definitely something that needs to be rectified.

Habib Bank's home ground seems to be Derby- bizarre.

This of course is just the bugs I encountered with Habib Bank (in the first few minutes of playing). I have no idea state the other Pakistani domestic teams are in.

In terms of the IPL, if you choose the option of 'Empty Indian Franchises' then amazingly there is a very narrow shortlist of Pakistani players from the available pool- from what I can recall, I could only see Umar Gul, Younis Khan, Kamran Akmal Mohammad Yousuf and Saqlain Mushtaq present. The latter two are not even realistic T20 buys. Where is everyone else? Misbah is missining, and more crucially, there seems to be no sight of Shahid Afridi, arguably the most valuable T20 player going around at the moment.

On a more general level, T20s continue to be disappointing. They have massively unbalanced and the sheer amounts of run-outs never ceases to amaze me- this is after all a big bug that was picked up with the release of the demo. It can be quite irksome to see middle orders the calibre of Ponting, Tendulkar and De Villers self-destruct due to some nonsensical run-outs. I also had Delhi scored 140 against me in the first ten overs. The less said about that, the better. I also fail to notice any change in the field settings- they still appear horrifically alien in a T20 game.

What others are calling "minor faults" seem like quite bloated discrepancies to me- perhaps there are significantly less mishaps with the English or Aussie careers. I hope you take on board what I have suggested because I still believe that this game has huge potential- it just needs the correct execution. With the glaring omissions present and the lack of opportunity to really get our hands on a working model of the game for a substantial period of time, I doubt many people will be willing to shell out ?20 at this moment. I wish you all the best."

No one is expecting a perfect game but the consistency of flaws here is incredible. And that too only within the Pakistani framework. God knows what state the other domestic systems are in.

Did this game not get playtested? I'm sure there's more then enough eager fans just waiting for an opportunity to test out the game for a sustained period of time and iron out the majority of the flaws.

But, the fact of the matter is this! He is a one man team, and we should all be posting like you have there, because posts like that will help him! Instead of the little 10yr old kids saying things like, "I cnt b australiaaaaaaa, dis gme is ****," now I'm aware that most people over at the forums are trying to be constructive but you've just got to think,

How difficult would it be for you to make a cricket game of this standard?

Granted, theres bugs, it crashes....but when it works, I've enjoyed it so far!

By the way, Why is it that I can still sign two over-sea players in the English season? Is that one a bug?

Completely agree, dude. I have no tolerance whatsoever of ill-conceived posts that look to criticise without offering suggestions. I'm a big backer of this game and hopefully the bugs will be rectified and a superb game shall be released to silence the disbelievers.

I think an open (or even closed, for that matter) beta will go a long way in helping fix the majority of the errors. The more people play, the more likely they are to spot any mistakes or bugs.

I spend money like its going out of fashion, and I've held off buying this so far, so yes, there is some serious factors which he needs to fix before I show him the colour of my bank-card.

Btw, if you're using and English county, just try to sign 2 over-seas, because i'm sure he hasn't changed that.

Also, Nic Pothas classed as an over-sea player? Eh?

I'll give a brief review; Cricket Coach is worse than Sergio Ramos yet for some absolutely weird reason I enjoy it far more than I enjoy ICC. I don't know why but I just love playing CC even though it's garbage. It's good garbage if there's such a thing.

Dude, we met over CC! We talked it to death when we where A LOT younger, what was it? 3-4 years ago now?

2006 as I recall. The first CC was awesome. Geraint Jones scored over 10,000 test runs for me. Awesome game.
