Excellent work holmie! The fact that everyone else beside me is trying their hand at stadium making is seriously depressing me.

Nothing to get depressed. I really hope Karthik can find a way of conversion,
Then i can continue working on National Stadium Karachi-it is 3/4 complete..but no point if we cant convert the files.

am able to open it...no probs...!
although Brick_Ro.jpg is missing ! :p

anyways...the problem with importing sketch-up is that the models mostly
appear correctly..but the textures get all distorted and glitchy !

hey...not much to worry about mate...google sketch-up seems to be really easy...! :) you can try it out yourself....;)..just need to find out the proper way of conversion !

No problem, take yr time, because once we can find a way making grounds will become real faster..and more stadia we can have..hope i'm not being optimistic to the point of foolishness.

Even i have my admissions, i'm trying to finish Karachi before that.

Great work Karthik!! yeah does look like some textures were missing buts its a positive move, no doubt. I want to give reps but it seems i should gain some to give some, so i owe you some rep.

Jk, what if they were to just give you teh file untexturised and then u texture it? I suppose texturising is the longest bit

yeah thats what i wanted to know because modeling in sketchup is easier to learn than in max. so if everyone can model in stetchup then we can pass it on to LM or JK to texture.

btw in pro version of stetchup 6 there is an option to export the 3d model to 3ds. thats the file i gave you JK. did it come out better that way or something?

Yeah that's the bit I was wondering about as well. Do you lose less texture if the file is in the same format??
And by the way holmie, isn't there an option to export 3d model to .3ds in the standard version of Sketchup as well?

Yeah thats a good thing to have. It will definatly assist us. Maybe we can save that MCG to a 3ds file in the pro version of sketchup and export it into 3ds for a couple of minor changes?

well...that would be one tedious job as texturing is really an irritating part !
requires a lot of precision as the slightest of glitches can be easily spotted !

yes...thats what i did for the mohali stadium...the only way of importing SKP files to MAX is through 3DS !

nope...only available in the PRO version !

anyways...i've been trying to texture the mohali stadium in my spare time
and had to modify lot of bits as the texturing co-ordinates were all in a hap-hazard manner !! and this is what i came up with !
the first pic is how the stadium looks when 1st imported to MAX.
2nd is the textured one with lighting etc etc !!
