Cricket Leagues - Feedback and Suggestions

Well, I'm putting the CPL up for sale anyway at the end of this season, just fed up with it.

Also, it might be a good idea to hand over the reigns of an established league to a new member. So, at the minute I can instantly think of three ailing leagues that could keep going: NZPL, GPL and CPL.

Dipak and Callum may want to keep their league, but they could support a new member who wants to start a similar league.

I personally can't wait to kill the CPL - really haven't enjoyed this season tbh - but it could be kept going by a new member looking to make a start in the leagues section. I believe that is what Swirler and Khaleel did with the SLPL.

Yeah. Instead of a new member starting a league which would eventually fail, it will be better to manage a league which has been left by league manager.

Cricksim Rating Guide

This is for those struggling with the rating. I sent them to Fenil sometime back. Thought I'd post it here. Came across it while clearing PM's.

* Legendary batsmen like Sachin, de Villiers Amla, Kallis, Punter all should be rated in the 40-42 range.

* Magnificent and consistent batsmen like Trott, M Hussey, Kohli, Watson, Sanga, all should be rated in the 38-40 range.

* Players like Gayle, Dhoni, Sehwag, Dilshan, Misbah,Jayawardene should be rated in 36-38 range.

* Not so established, but good players or good players running in a dry patch stretched to for two or more years like Cook, U Akmal, Bell, Collingwood, D Hussey, White, Ferguson all should be rated in 33/34-36 range.

* Players specialized in one formal format but quite average in ODI's to be rated in 32-34 range, depending on the stats in all three formats (Eg: North, Laxman, Afridi, Dravid, Albie, Pollard etc.)

* Pure AR's with a fair batting average & a decent bowling average should be rated somewhat 31-32ish with the bat & somewhat 34-35ish with the ball depending on the averages.

* Domestic players like Khawaja, Hales, Finch, M Marsh, Badrinath all should be rated in the 31-34 range considering their List A averages and the caliber of the circuit they play in.

* Batsmen who are quite average, just rate the anything above 28 depending on their skill.

* For the bowlers, rate the best lot of them 26-28. This category includes bowlers like Swann, Vettori, Morne, Steyn and Malinga.

* The bowlers who bowl really well and consistent and have started their career with a blitz, rate them 28-31. Some of them are Zaheer, Mitchell, Lee, Roach.

* New bowlers who have taken the game by stor like Philander, Narine should be rated somewhat 28-30. If they lost form, then you should dock their ratings by a few points.

* Bowlers who aint that established but bowl well, rate them 31-33. Parnell, Starc, Pattinson McKay etc.

* Rate the specialist bowlers always below 35.

*Bowlers like Steve Smith, Afridi, Bravo, Pollard, Yuvi all to be rated around 34-36 according to their skills.

* Rate the part-timers anything above 37.

* Also it's easier to draft out a list prior to rating the players. It helps in easy comparison (suggested by Callum). Also, if you're doing a nation based league, dock the local players a point up, because they'll be familiar with the conditions.

* For the players who are retired. You should cut down one or two points depending on their skill & how long they've kept away from the game (Obviously doesn't apply for a Retired League or Legends League)

* Always test your ratings & then using the results of the trial matches, tinker them accordingly until you get satisfactorily results.

* This is just a guide. Don't blindly follow it. Different leagues need different rating criterion, so you need to do minor edits at times.

Any more help needed just PM me. Good luck.

I updated the rules a bit over half a year ago. When doing so I wanted to keep them relatively simple, because I know no one really wants to read that much, so hopefully most new people take at least some notice of them.

In terms of the ratings, that's pretty similar to what I do. Around half a year ago I posted my full lot of ratings for what I think was NZPL season ten. I can't be bothered going back and finding them, so if you want to have a look at them feel free to have a look through the later part of my thread.

I will post the GPL ratings tomorrow/monday. Your NZPL ratings will help in the OPL whilst rating the Kiwis.

Those were my old ratings. They were done like a year ago straight after the World Cup, so it's probably best if you don't really use them, because since then there's been a whole season of New Zealand domestic cricket. I posted them just to give everyone an idea of how my ratings work. Here they are. Once again please don't use them directly or even indirectly, because they are almost a year old.

Since then I did a whole new lot of ratings for season eleven at the end of last year, which I haven't posted here because I was going to use them with a few changes for season twelve, which now isn't really happening. There was like four months of domestic cricket since I made those ratings though, so again they're not going to be much help to you.

Maybe it's just me but I've never been a fan of sharing ratings. I figure that if you want ratings, do them yourself. Research players and find something that works for you.

As I said in my post above I posted them just to give everyone an idea of how my ratings work, not for other people to use because they're out of date. Obviously I wouldn't post my current ratings because then it's likely that at least someone would copy them.

Yeah I Am But I Will Sim The Match

Trololololololololol
Very sly there Callum :p. Secretly changing all the thread titles to include 'Indian' in them, under the radar :lol. Especially the fact that it's taken so long for everyone to notice...
