I've decided to add another pool, due to some big-name omissions and blunders made by the managers in the bidding process, to improve the quality of this league. Following are some of the players that will go under the hammer:

Spoiler: Danny Cipriani

Danny Cipriani played schoolboy cricket for Berkshire and Oxfordshire. He was invited to join Surrey County Cricket Club as a batsman.

Spoiler: Boomer Collins

Boomer Collins was a Toronto Blue Jays prospect hoping to reach the big leagues until he decided to challenge himself by trying out an entirely new sport — cricket.

Spoiler: Jimmy Bartel

Jimmy Bartel, an Australian rules footballer, displayed initial promise as a cricketer, representing the 'Joeys' in 1st XI cricket as a 16-year-old, and winning the school's batting awards in both 2000 and 2001. This led to selection in the state under-17 team, before a switch in focus toward football instead saw Bartel selected to play for the Geelong Falcons team in the TAC Cup competition.

Spoiler: Shannon Hurn

Shannon Hurn plays club cricket with Angaston in the Barossa & Light Association. He represented South Australia Under 13 (Primary Schools), and South Australia Secondary Schools Under 15 at Buderim in 2001.

Billy Twelvetrees was active in a range of sports including football and cricket. During his youth he spent his summer weekends playing for Wisborough Green Cricket Club where he was proficient with the bat. Billy’s still got the biggest hit for Wisborough Green Cricket Club.

Joe Simpson was educated at St Benedict's School, Ealing, which he represented at both rugby and cricket and where he was honoured as Victor Ludorum for athletics three times, at junior, middle and senior school levels. Outside school he played cricket for Ealing Cricket Club and played with Hugo Ellis and Dominic Waldouck, in the youth team at Richmond Rugby Club.

Pat Richards rugby league footballer for Parramatta Eels, Wests Tigers and Wigan Warriors is a former player for the Fairfield-Liverpool Grade Cricket Club.

In 2003, Brett Jones chose an AFL career despite holding a Western Australia rookie contract. Since retiring he has returned to cricket and is now Queensland's high performance manager.

Bobby Hassell proved his worth in T20 cricket when he hit three sixes and the winning runs against a Yorkshire side in his testimonial T20 cricket match.

Luke Hodge, the current captain of Hawthorn Football Club, was a talented junior cricketer.

Marc Murphy was an exceptional junior cricketer earmarked for high honours. Murphy was a member of a championship-winning state under-19 team.

Wallabies rugby player Berrick Barnes was a star wicketkeeper-batsman in junior cricket and played in the school's First XI cricket team for five years. He also played men's A-grade cricket at 12 years of age.

Fraser Forster did not begin playing as a goalkeeper until he was 13 years old. Before then he had mainly played cricket.

Elliot Daly was a talented cricketer as a teenager, representing England U15s and Surrey at various age-group levels. He was an all-rounder, with fast bowling his forte, and appeared good enough to possibly make the first-class county grade before he decided to go down the rugby union route.

Liam Botham is the son of English Test cricketer Ian Botham. Botham initially followed in his father's footsteps, playing county cricket for Hampshire. He took the wicket of former England captain Mike Gatting on his County Championship debut. However, he left the sport in 1997 after just one season to play rugby union for West Hartlepool.

Kieran Read was a talented cricketer, representing Northern District age group teams and being selected for the New Zealand U17 tournament side in 2002.

George Horlin-Smith, who plays for Geelong in the AFL, captained Australia's under-16 cricket team before opting for a career in Aussie Rules.

Spoiler: Lachlan Maranta

Lachlan Maranta, who plays for the Broncos, was a handy fast bowler who had potential to go further.

In 2008, Patrick Lambie became headboy of Michaelhouse and was elected both first team rugby and cricket captain. Lambie was both the KZN cricket and KZN Craven Week captain.

Brett Deledio was almost offered a two-year contract to play cricket for Victoria before he decided to embark on an Australian Football career with Richmond in the AFL.

Jonathan Brown grew up playing cricket. Brown began senior cricket at the age of 15 and was a stand-out left-arm fast bowler. He played A-Grade cricket with Wesley CBC where he was Cricketer of the Year two years in a row and played in a senior premiership. He was also invited to play in the Victorian under-17 squad. However, he focused on Australian rules

Rudie van Vuuren represented his country at the 2003 cricket World Cup in South Africa and switched to rugby when he represented Australia in the rugby World Cup later that year.

Beauden Barrett's youngest brother Jordie Barrett, who played for Canterbury under-19 in the national under-19 tournament, is a handy cricketer and has already captained the Central Districts under-19 side.

Jack was an inaugural signing for the Gold Coast Suns but returned to cricket before cracking the AFL.

Spoiler: Chris Pennell

Chris Pennell is the son of former England cricketer Graham Dilley. Pennell was a member of the victorious Gilpin cup side in 1999. Pennell was educated at Old Swinford Hospital School in Stourbridge where he played a key part in their run to the semi-finals of the Daily Mail Cup. Although head boy, he turned down the chance to captain the cricket first XI because of his A-levels.

Andrew Johns — one of the world's best rugby league players, was recruited into the New South Wales Twenty20 side in 2006-07 but his appearance did no favours for the team on the field.

Nick Smith took 100 wickets for Scotch College.

Dan van Zyl represented his country at rugby union and played first-class cricket. A bowling all-rounder who bowled right-arm off-break, van Zyl played at Northern Transvaal from 1992/93 to 1996/97 and then Boland in 1998/99.
