Day-Night Tests confirmed

Agree with holdenator. One per summer sounds good, otherwise it'll be overdone, and we'll be back to square one. It's good for week day matches.

The ideal place for this is Etihad Stadium.

I believe the first day-night unlimited overs game is to be staged in the UAE at one of those stadiums. Again the ECB doing it, first T20 and now this. God we rock!

I still don`t think it`ll work in the subcontinent with the dew factor which`ll skew it more in favor of the batsmen. The anti-dew spray or something does`nt totally eradicate the problem. It`ll still dew heavily in North India and Pakistan during winters.

Maybe just have one test as holdenator said and have only the weekdays as day/night and the weekends as a traditional start but I`m not in favor of it anyway.

It'll just look so weird to see batsman defend and block while you are usually used to seeing them go all out at the end of an ODI innings under lights.

So you agree that you are the guys to be blamed for the whole T20 nonsense coming into cricket.

^^^ Its a given. And I think Cricketman's got a bit of a point there. Comparisons might rise.

I guess that this will not click..!!
The people (I mean, the crowds) want loads of runs, sixes fours and most importantly "SLOGGING" which won;t turn true in Test cricket even if it goes complete night..!!
So, I guess, this idea will just cost the charges of electricity used for lights during night time.:sarcasm
But I feel it should be introduced in Australian Sheffield Shield as no other country has flood lights for all its teams home grounds.
Its only Australia, which has flood lights in its six team home grounds.(IINW):)

No not at all! We haven't over killed, we haven't tried to create a domestic tournament that thinks it should have it's own International Window!

I have to back up Ollie here. We invented a great, new, exciting game that brought a whole new audience to cricket. Then came the ICL and IPL, invented by Indians, and just took it too far. It's ridiculous to state that we are to blame for the over modernisation of cricket just because we created a version of the game that was hugely popular.

I don't agree with Day-Night Test matches. It just ruins the most traditional aspect of the sport.

I hope after day/night tests come in, they introduce the concept of playing under lights even for the day games that end late in the evening when the natural light gets really dark. That way, we can fully complete the quota of 90 overs for the day.

Want to see how D/N tests work. It will be interesting.

Won't it become rdiculously hard for the bowlers. First of all, the most productive session to them is the mornng session when there's seam and swing. Won't a day-night thingybob just kill it all?

The dew will also play a big factor in some countries. I suppose they will be using the pink ball? If so It'll be interesting to see how it will react under lights. Whether it will reverse swing or just do nothing.

Very good point, it should be limited to the stadiums that are known as roads that don't take swing. Taking swing the factor away from the game would further push the game in favour of batsmen.

Doesnt it aid more swing when the night sets in, at some stadiums? Dew can be positive or negative for a team. It is disadvantageous for the spinner to grip the ball but a fast bowler could also possibly get movement (thats what the commentators in the recent match talked about while assessing the dew factor).
