Dec 16-20: 3rd Test - Australia v England at Perth

When I had my shower the score was something like 111/5 and I had just switched off the score and was thinking Strauss is missing a trick here, he should have brought on Swann. Even if the pitch didn't help Swann it is TRYING SOMETHING when the batsmen are getting settled. I come back from my shower and next thing I see is SWANN has taken a wicket - shocker! :rolleyes

Good start from England, letting the aussies off the hook a little bit. Good to see a replacement for Broad who is an improvement, someone who actually takes wickets. Just a shame Finn is off the boil, so far this series it seems those taking six wickets in an innings have not gone onwards and upwards.

A couple of aussies must get a few runs second innings surely :

Clarke 84 runs @ 21.00
Ponting 82 runs @ 20.50

Hughes and Smith have come in and contributed nine runs between them, just as well Johnson had his "rest" and was recalled, looks like he's set for third top scorer and helping give the aussies a fighting total

Geez, we've really gotten out of trouble (at least for now). Haddin does it again for us.

Covvy added 2 Minutes and 6 Seconds later...

Oops.

8/228 off 68.4 overs. Hope Mitchell Johnson and Peter Siddle both get a centruy.

So, who reckons that Australia should have their bowlers open the batting? They're playing much then the original opening batsman!

It'd be pretty interesting to see a graph showing the percentage of runs scored for the Top order Vs. the Lower order for the Australian batsman for this Ashes season.

Anyone else think that Punter could of done a hell of a lot better with that catch chance?

Ponting's eyes are gone, he flinched on the Strauss edge, then when it bounced in front of him he flinched again.

If he actually picked the ball path properly he would've been able to get forward to that ball with ease, it pretty much only grassed just in front of him; to add to that he didn't even predict the bounce since he was so muddled up.

But as we all know this isn't the same Ponting anymore.

The feet were all wrong for the catch, whether glove or bat.

Siddle is swinging the ball all over the place. What will Johnson do?
