Dexter

Did you just see the season finale? What did you think of Miguel as a character for this season? Think he tied in well?

Yeah I wanna post my 2 cents on this season but I guess I'll wait till you're finished with the last episode :p.

I finished it, it was great, very exciting. The rest should be posted in spoiler tags though, which I can't be bothered doing right now.

What do you think of the premise for the next season?

I think Deb trying to find the previous CIs for her dad might actually lead to her to Laura Moser - Brian Moser - Dexter's brother. That might get her to look into Dexter's path and discover his secret. But I'm not too sure they can do that the next season cause that would probably be the end. What saddens me is that I know the plot is about Dexter's transformation from a monster to a human, but what will happen towards the end when he gets caught? I mean I kinda don't want him to die now since he's gonna have a kid. Thoughts?

Well here's what I think:

I honestly think that the best way to end the series, when it does eventually end, is to kill off Dexter. Just seems right, he can't escape so much surely, and tragedy is always the best way to end a masterpiece.

On the subject of Debra finding out his secret, she does it in the first book of the series so it makes sense that it could work.

Just watched the last episode of season three. If you haven't jumped on this show yet, do it. I haven't been more hooked on a show, and I have liked shows before.

I agree that she'll have to find out about Dexter's brother being the ice truck killer. It's the only obvious loose end that the season left, and having Deb, the only person who Dexter said he could trust, starting to look into what his secret is, should set up an interesting enough season. I heard from someone that in the books Dexter's son likes killing stuff too, but I suppose it would be too soon after he has been born to go on a murderous rampage, realistically.

It was actually Cody that likes killing in the books tassie, not his son. Dexter doesn't have his own kid in the books, at least not yet.

Yeah I heard about the Dexter books, but I also heard that barring book 1, the rest have kinda sucked. I've never read them ofcourse, just from what I've heard.

Yeah like you guys said I guess Dexter does have to die, but it would be kind of sad. Maybe in his last hours he performs "morally humane acts" or something, who knows.

In other words, which finale did you think was the best so far? I still don't think anything comes close to the end of season 1. There was this certain atmosphere when he had to kill his own brother and come to terms with it. I personally didn't like Lila one bit, except the obvious reasons :P.

Miguel Prado as a character I think tho was much better than Brian. He actually managed to trick Dexter, something the viewers thought was impossible, and used him for his own agendas. I thought for a while that they could make him a permanent character, but I guess not.

I liked the season 2 ending just because you spent the whole season thinking that there was no way he could dodge this one, he was gone (aside from the fact I knew season 3 was being shot). Doakes had the evidence, the police department knew it was one of them, and somehow he escaped it all.

Season 3's ending, I thought, was too brief. He spent about 5-10 minutes escaping King, and made it look pretty easy. That guy had stopped quite a few victims from escaping his clutches throughout the season, how could he not secure Dexter a bit more strongly? He dealt with Ramone and King in about 15 minutes all up. Just seemed a little weighted towards the end.

Not including the last episode though, those few late episodes in season 3 were amazing. Every one of them made me wish I had been downloading the next one while watching them.

Everything since (and including) the last episode of season two has been pretty gash, I've began to treat everything Dexter that wasn't part of the first season much like I treat the second two Pirates of the Caribbean films - like they never existed.

Definitely season 1 for me, I thought the Dexter being chased bit was too cliched and also too early, we've only had 12 episodes to meet Dexter and he's already under the gun and being chased by the police?

The first season had it all, more killings, the other serial killer, Dexter's own side investigations and the little games they played, and then the finale was incredible, Dexter killing his brother was the moment of drama television of 2008 for me. It was even better than that, it was one of the best episodes of anything I've seen.

Second season was good, but it didn't have enough twists really, other than Lila killing Doakes. I knew Dexter would escape somehow because there's no way he wouldn't, whereas in the first season it was a puzzle slowly being solved, mystery meets crime meets thriller meets action etc. The way it unravelled, and the fact that finding out who the ice truck killer was minor in comparison with finding out he was Dexter's brother, was just amazing.

Season 1 was easily the best for me.

Yea I know exactly what you mean. I thought Season 3 would somehow be able to top Season 1 towards the end, but it kinda sucked (the ending I mean). As for season 2, I think it was a bit flawed. Dexter constantly got lucky and escaped his pursuers at the nick of time like all the time. I know it was supposed to be him questioning his very being but they didn't execute his whole "side missions" too well.

Anyways I'm really looking forward to Season 4. I hope they go on to atleast season 5 though. Also it'll be interesting to see how he deals with everything along with his marriage. And I wonder if he'll ever have another friends!!!
