Does anybody else find Harsha Bhogle annoying?

Sky team;

David Gower
Micheal Atherton
Nasser Hussain
David Lloyd
Micheal Holding
Ian Botham

Aussie co-commentators from Channel 9;

Ian Healy
Mark Taylor
Micheal Slater

The Sky team has been that way throughout the summer for internationals. Allot and Willis haven't been used at all.

Hmm I dislike Hussain and Lloyd for the most part, Atherton is iffy, but the team otherwise is pretty strong. Something tells me Holding used to be in the ESPN Star team way back when.

Interesting that you don't like Lloyd. I'd be interested to know why because I thought he was loved world wide. I'm not angry or anything, just curious.

Lloyd does come out with some rubbish some times. He still sometimes says that KP should be playing for South Africa and not England.

I remember catching him out a couple of years ago when he was going on about how players should play for the country of their birth by e-mailing Sky with the following list:

Adam Hollioake
Ben Hollioake
Min Patel
Nasser Hussain
Andy Caddick
Dougie Brown
Peter Such
Chris Lewis
Devon Malcolm
Phil DeFreitas
Graeme Hick

Who are all players born outside England, all of whom played when David Lloyd was England coach. He soon shut up when they read it out on air.

Haha, he got owned. I have only heard Lloyd during the Pakistan series and I don't remember him mentioning anything about KP. I quite liked him to be honest. But this makes him sound a complete arse.

On topic, I have heard dozens of people complain about Harsha and the whole team during the RSA vs India matches. Apparently they are almost all very biased towards their own teams, which just makes the viewers' experience so annoying.

I think I heard that, do you remember the exact reaction?

The ESPN team is biased a bit because Star Sports is, essentialy, and Indian Channel. But Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar and Wasim and Donald are all very good and knowledgeable. Symcox does maybe blow some hot wind, and Bhogle does get annoying at time, but in all it is very fun to watch :)

I'm not sure why. He just doesn't strike my interest and from what I remember, his treatment of the English team was far too against them. I guess that's the reason they have Nasser to balance it out.

Harsha Bhogle? He is an all-round guy. He is probably the most educated cricket commentator with an MBA from IIM-A and a chemical engineering degree. People who know something about international B-schools would know that IIM-A is right up there. It would have been difficult for him to reject associate level employment with big i-banks for an unstable career in commentary.

He is not an expert, but more of an anchor. He has done radio commentary in different parts of the world, too. Also, his command over English is excellent.

He forms his views from the perspective of an average person watching cricket. However, unlike other anchors, he is extremely knowledgeable and knows quite a lot about cricket, football and other sports.

But why does he keep using so many tired cliches? I agree that he speaks well, just that he annoys the viewer with too many ugly metaphors which needn't be used at all...

But, he is better than Bandira Bedi, Arun Lal!!! and Laxman Shiva-whatever right?

Yeah, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan is the limit, though.
