Yup, you can sign up for a free account at Fileplanet. Although I had my login setup already thanks to IGN Insider membership. Apparantly IGN and Fileplanet are interlinked in few things. And if they are going to lock it down to US only than to hell with them. I'll see how I go with the installation anyways.

I was just waiting to see how bad the ads were before downloading. Plus, I'm not sure I need any more distractions on this pc.

I am 85% done with Prince of Persia. Its downloading at 20 KBps average Lets hope the file doesn't get corrupted or the download breaks off at 98% or something.

Why not use something like DAP which can pause downloads and download faster.

yup, they do not support dl managers and as I suspected, it happened. Its basically been sitting at 89% for 5 hours. So will have to setup for download again.

For those looking for Far Cry, i suggest the link over at Gamershell. Picking a mirror closer to your location around the world will of course speed up your download speed.

I used the UK mirror and was downloaded in 2 hours. Register at Ubi.com/US. Tell the site you are american and the game can be installed easily and quickly.

EDIT : I've just discovered Gamershell are supporting the other games to - I suggest you get it off there. This includes Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon (ignore the message saying for US customers only).

I can report back after a couple of hours playing that the ads are very non intrusive. I have so far seen 3 altogether. Two are on the main menu, but dont get it the way. The other is a small animation played before the loading which lasts about 5 seconds. When in the gameplay, there are no ads to be seen.

I suggest you take advantage people!

Thanks! This sounds great, not that I have every played these games before or heard about them But they looked good on their homepages and I checked out the screenshots and seeing that they are sorta old, my PC should run them. Thanks pingusten.

I really wouldn't be so sure of an Intel GMA 950 to be able to handle games like Far Cry. I was downloading FAr Cry at a speed of 200+ KB, but abondoned it as soon as I realized that in order to play it, I have to run it at very low settings.

Anyways, I heard a rumour that running Fraps while running Far Cry removes the ads. How true is it?
