Download the Cricket Academy Beta V0.99 (Player Creator Only)!

I'd be happy with fewer views and more considered discussion. This whole section is discussion of the game, not an attempt to boost or measure popularity.

The view count is shown as a tool for you to see what the most active threads are for discussion, a thread that a lot of people view is broadly indicative of the usefulness of the content - usually large numbers of people view threads when they are worth viewing.

Perhaps you can't see past things that are for fun - but I'm buying the game because of all the features it has that have been listed over time, for all the detail Ross has gone into explaining design decisions - showing that a lot of care and interest in the sport of cricket has formed the basis of the game's design, for the dozens of screenshots showing the superior graphics to any cricket game on the market, after trying the cricket academy and seeing the huge amount of detail that has gone into even minor parts of the game, for the year of posts that Ross makes in his own time on these forums when he knows we make up a negligible portion of sales - for his taking on board our feedback at all stages of the process and keeping on adding in more and more based on what we've said - all while being able to look at the other games we've all been served up and bought anyway.

A little appreciation of all that we have got would make you look like far less of an arse while complaining about what we haven't got.

They haven't even started their media strategy yet - every single thing we've gotten so far is just because they want to show something to the fans who appreciate it. They'll come out with a trailer, some fancy ads, piles of screenshots, all that and more, when they are ready to start the public advertising campaign.

You'll need an attention span in the time before then.

BUT, graphics and details only make up 30% of a DECENT cricket game right? Weren't we happy with BLIC 99 because of the gameplay even though the graphics and the level of details were crap? Gameplay is what its all about and here we know NOTHING about the gameplay except what we were solely told by the developers.

Sorry mate, naveenncc is no longer around, otherwise we could've got him to answer you. :noway :lol :rolleyes

Well, you're around and it looks like you have been given the gift of hands to type.:rolleyes

We only know things about the gameplay of this game because "the Great Ross" said so. And on the other hand they are waiting to announce the release date for their game ONLY after Ashes 13 announces their features. Why do they have to wait and see what Ashes 13 has to offer to make sure their product will sell? Why don't they release a net session if their batting and bowling systems are so new and different? The fact is that after their last short video showing the bowling using a DRS showed a lot of flaws such as the loopy bounce, weird bowling action, no tapping of bat on the ground, etc. I am pretty sure I wasn't the only one who complained about that video.

1) I would rather them focus on the complete game and ensuring the Cricket Academy is working that working on a short demo. Creating a demo takes additional resources which they perhaps dont have at this stage of development

2) The 'issues' (use that term VERY loosely) related to loopy bounce, weird bowling action, and no tapping of the bat were ALL ANSWERED - you weren't the only one who complained and you certainely weren't the only person that lacked the basic skills to see the 'issues' were addressed. You talk about 'facts' - the fact is you didn't even realise these problems were solved.

Mr. ATP1234whatever, do you realise that CA is a free beta? When its free, you just can't 'expect' things. I remember there was a discussion on ppl 'expecting' things sometime ago, go read that.
Its free and hence totally upto BA team to decide on what to include and what not to include in any CA update.
Its free and hence it gives you no right whatsoever to challenge the contents in the update.

See mate, if you are unsatisfied with the way its being done, you can simply ignore all this, isn't it? No point making us genuinely interested folks read your worthless long posts. Go play another game or do anything that suits you, just don't post here for the sake of it.
And more, no one's licking anybody's a** here. If you can't see the importance of CA as a tool to get the players, teams, tournaments, tours, fields, umpires ready before the game is out, I'm sorry but nobody can help you.

Edit: And, how do you "understand 30% of any post" or how do graphics make up "40% of a game"? Does that make any lick of sense? :lol

I've said this before but I'll say it again, I haven't downloaded any version of Cricket Academy so I've only seen what has been posted on the forum.

However, despite my lack of skill in creating extremely realistic looking versions of myself in previous games, I think the idea to release Cricket Academy early is a great move from Ross and Big Ant. Why? Well, we get to see a bit of the game but more importantly, everyone is busy creating teams and players already. This is a smart idea because when the game releases, everyone will be able to download accurate players from Day 1, so I won't have to play with Michael Clock, for example.

So not only are they generating interest in their product, people are willingly creating real teams etc. For a game this is unlicensed, showing off Cricket Academy and the fact that you can easily share and download players is highly important. That may win some people over who are hesitant about buying an unlicensed game.

Don't confuse "want" with "ability" - very different things.

Most seem to get it.

How about we take a leaf out of Ross's book and stop feeding the troll. All he wants is attention and you're all giving it to him on a silver platter. Lets leave to ten year old to cry by himself now

So how would more screenshots, videos - even a net session demo - tell you about gameplay?

The controls in a vacuum don't help get an idea of how the game will play - Cricket Revolution had a net session as a demo - which they used to hide the fact the AI was awful and the difficult controls were the only way they had of creating 'difficulty'.

Videos don't betray how easy or hard it was to create the outcome shown. The game has very low levels of hud, so you can't 'see' the gameplay in the same way as you could watching things like placing a pitch marker, etc. in previous games.

So, what we've got instead is Ross, Mike and HBK spending a huge amount of their time on explaining why they've done what they've done - it shows that they 'get' cricket.

Then, we've got public play sessions at EB before release - so regular people will be able to go and actually play the final game - not a cut down section of it from months back in the development process. You'll be able to read what people who have had nothing to do with the game have to say about it.

All that comes from being patient, and while we wait, we can look at the detail that Cricket Academy shows us - at the very least it shows you that the detail is in the game, and not just what someone is saying in a pre-release interview.

The bottom line is no one is compelled to come here, no one is compelled to download the Cricket Academy, there is the choice of sitting out and waiting for the game.

This is the undeniable truth for all and is not particularly pointed at anyone in particular, especially not the greatest of the great, the wisest of the wise, the wonderful and powerful great sage ATMega169P.

Your post makes no sense at all and you come here saying I don't make sense? Where the fish do you see this thread having the most views??? Do you actually know what thread views are? Do you even know what the word view means??? I doubt you know the answer to that. Let's make this clear, its not that you have socks to clean but you have no facts to back up your argument. Why don't you just accept that no useful update about the game has been provided? All these years people were crying on this forum about how we haven't had a single cricket game with a good gameplay and now everyone is happy with just graphics, details, and customization. Wow!!! you deserve an applause for that.:face palm

The only reason I always get proved wrong is because everyone here are just kissing Ross's @ss. The one line everyone sticks to is "Do you see other developers do this?" when Ross has done nothing new. Other developers offer gameplay demo and updates that are useful for game buyers. They don't just depend on rendered videos that they have put out because you can graphically enhance any gameplay video and make it look like it has the best graphics in the world.

So you need to get some facts before you reply and at least understand 30% of what my post is. Thank you very much!!:)

Don't confuse "seem to get it" with "kissing @ss".
let's be logical. You don't like what you see, move on and wait for the game or some game play video to be released. Ross or anyone else from big ant cricket is not being paid to give us an update every week. They are doing this for the hardcore cricket game fans. If you don't like it you always have the option of not to come to this website, wait for the game to be released and read the reviews before buying the game, as I mentioned above. It's not like they are asking you to pre-order the game before downloading the cricket academy. IMO cricket academy is a great thing. It tells you a lot. It definitely tells about the effort they have put in to make this game as much realistic as possible off the field.

As far as as release date is concerned. It's their game, they will release it when THEY think it it's the best time to release. You think Ross or Big ant studio owe us but the matter of fact is they don't owe us anything as of now. They are not booking orders. Comeback when they are saying to buy the game without showing us the game play.

Ross ATM just need some money shits/ I mean shots.:p I think ATM needs a bobblehead, a large ATM that only Biggs the man can create.

PS Ross is the next update a large one, thanks.:spy

Now i know who your favorite is between fez and michael.

To add something related to cricket...saw an article on ign america today about greatest sports rivalries that should be movie...and the bodyline series featured in that list. It would be so awesome if someone can create both the teams on CA. Anyone saw any other player licenses ross was talking about?

Sporting Rivalries Worthy of the Movies - IGN

If you check the created (by big ant) game list there are both Eng and Aus teams from the 1930s (and from the 40s also) so bingo. If I have misunderstood what you meant and that you were talking about people recreating the likenesses , I agree!

let's be logical...

You've come to the wrong person in the wrooooooong thread.

Note: Newbies... Gamer22 is how you Newbie properly.

________

EDIT: Worth mentioning again how CRAZY INSANE that field editor is?! By god... It's going to be hours playing around with it, but it's going to pay off when playing the game. Having the right players in the right place in the field.
