AI Patch: Eddie's Patch V2
Rating: 5/10
Overall: Not much change from default AI
Batting
Strokes
There are only few modifications to the shots.
Front foot shot are least used, Balls of reasonable length need to use the back foot drives like (straight drive, cover drive, ondrive etc)
Disappointingly the slog shot haven't been changed.
If you chose the right shot and time it you will still perform a successful slog.
Plus tailenders can bat just as well as regular batsmen.
Edges
There are many edges in this patch.
I played a test and an ODI on batting friendly wickets and I only got 2 edges which were both in the test.
I even tried playing stupid shot to get and edge but didn't get one.
Bowling
Edges
Bowling is hard work with this patch on good batting pitches, there are not many edges to keeper or slips.
Effect on yorkers and bouncers
Yorkers and bouncers have no real effect unless the bowling conditons are good. In tests the batsmen defend/leave. In ODI's the batsmen look to slog out of the ground.
Effect on variation
This in my opinion is the ony thing on a good batting pitch that can trouble the batsmen is mixing up your variation but once the batsmen get in then its a plain sailing partnership until on plays a daft shot and edges to keeper and silp, so mixing up your variation is the only to get wickets my good bowling.
Computer AI
Batting
The AI is a bit weird, the CPU will defend the good balls then play a big shot which can sometimes can be mistimed. Improvement on that is needed. Which means that the batmen defend in the early going and when the run rate gets away, then try to even up with big shots.
Bowling
Bowlers lines and lengths are not different as before really
Fielding
Look at add-ons roster
Captaincy
The captaincy has changed as in the captain will not put a spinner on first change, he will use his third fast bowler. Part-Time bowlers will less used depending on the roster stats.
The captain will use fast bowlers mostly to do death bowling unless there are plenty of spinners in the team.
Add-ons
Roster
This is a pretty good roster, the attributes are more realistic whcih will make the kind of batting line-ups in real life. Fielding is better, not so many direct hits at the stumps.
This also separates front-line bowlers from part-time bowlers as well so you won't have Tendulkar bowling 34 overs in a test match.
Field settings
The fields could do with a little work, in ODI's your first field wouldn't be cover, extra cover, mid off, mid on, mid wicket, and there are no realistic aggressive fields in test matches either.
Autoplay
Due to the realistic roster, Autoplay is good too. If your not interesting in batting or bowling then this autoplay will set you up to a realistic situation depending the team you are playing/against.
The scores are the closest you can get to real life.
Improvements
1. Successful slog shots should only happen when a batsmen is in and should happen rarely for tailenders.
2. There should be a lot more edges going to slip, the batsmen can play any stroke and get it away and score easy runs.
3. Bowlers should have different lines and lengths, eg in my ODI I played the bowler would either over pitch of bowl back of a length on off stump.
4. In a test match you should have a fielding option of three slips and a gully I couldn't find that anywhere in your felid settings, plus you should have better ODI fields.
Summary
This patch has a lot of areas to improve, I like the add-ons but there is nothing much from a batting perpective that has changed.
Consider my suggestions and try to improve, you have a good patch don't give up on it, it just needs tinkering.
