Andrew Strauss today announced that Alastair Cook will stay in South Africa, because doctors have said that he will be able to play in the Test Series.
The announcement was made during a press conference with Andy Flower earlier today. During the conference, Flower said that it was great news that Cook could remain with the team, and that the team couldn't wait for him to rejoin them. Flower also said that it was a shame that Cook couldn't come back earlier, but said that it would be a good chance for one of the other opening batsmen to claim a position in the test team.
Strauss was also answering questions on the chance of Marcus Trescothick making a return to the side, and said that Trescothick would probably play in the One-Day warm-up against the Diamond Eagles on wednesday.
Both were asked many other questions, but Strauss answered all of them, and Flower said that it was great that Strauss was confident when talking to the press, and that both Strauss and Flower wanted the press to know everything.
Tomorrow England will be back in training ahead of the one-day warm-up game against Diamond Eagles.
