Day 1: 3rd Session @ Lord`s

4:30 pm: Here comes the centurion, Justin Langer and his skipper, Ricky Ponting as they stride out to the pitch at Lord`s with confidence showing on their determined faces. The Evening Session will start proceedings with the spinner, Monty Panesar having the first go with the ball this afternoon.

4:36 pm: Flintoff runs it to bowl his last ball of the over....Its pitched on a good length, and Justin Langer foolishly tries to play the cut shot, its an edge and Kevin Pietersen takes a excellent catch at Third slip, and thats OUT!The Englishmen are ecstatic whilst Langer makes the dreaded walk back to the Pavillion. He gets a good round of applause from the crowd for his well-earned century, whilst Michael Clarke makes his way to the pitch with that cheeky grin of his.

(Flintoff is ecstatic as he dismisses Justin Langer for 109 runs off 209 balls)

4:50 pm: Flintoff bowls it full...Ponting drives it down the ground, it wont be four as Anderson is there, and they get a single off it. Thats the skipper`s half-century, he will be happy with that. The Australian top-order is doing exceptionally well at the moment.

5:23 pm: Its a full ball by Panesar, Ponting leg-glances it and thats FOUR! And that brings up the 300 for the Australians on the 1st day, they are looking very strong at the moment.

(Ricky Ponting hits another four to bring up the 300 for the Aussies)

6:07 pm: Sidebottom bowls it wide, Ponting tries to unleash a big shot, and its horribly mistimed and edged towards second slip....and ITS DROPPED! Oh dear...its the second dropped catch for Alastair Cook today, he wont be too happy with the chances he`s missed. Ponting scruffles a run out of it and moves on to 99.

6:08pm: Sidebottom comes it again...he bowls it on a good length, Ponting defends and sets off for a quick single.......he makes it! Thats Ricky Ponting`s century from 143 balls! The Skipper is really setting an example to his team-mates right now.

Sky Sports Evening Session Report

Welcome back to Sky-Sports' coverage of the 2005 Ashes Series. Its the end of the day, and we`ll go through the evening session. As we all know, the Australians are dominating the 1st Test so far, with the top three in their batting-order all made superb centuries, which is an exceptional achievement for the Australian team. England are struggling to take wickets at regular intervals as they have only taken 2 wickets on the 1st day, and they really have to work harder than that to stop the Australians. Speaking of England`s bowling, I`m surprised that Michael Vaughan isnt giving Jimmy Anderson too many go`s with the ball, he has only bowled 11 overs today, which is quite surprising as it`s not as if he`s been bowling horribly. Vaughan has to give Anderson a go, he`s a talented bowler and he can take important wickets when given the opportunity. Once again, as we have seen all day, Sajid Mahmood is struggling with the ball and is going at about 5 runs per over, which is not a very good sign for him. He needs to get his confidence and get his bowling back on track or he`ll struggle to even get a spot in the 2nd Test for England. Thats it from us from Sky Sports, Australia are 388 for 2 at Stumps on Day 1, with Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer and Ricky Ponting all scoring superb centuries. We`ll hope to see you tomorrow as we continue our coverage of the 1st Test of the 2005 Ashes Series, here at the Home of Cricket, Lords.
