England Collapse after promising start!

England were thanking Andrew Strauss today as 6 of the lower order batsmen were run out, silly running really was Englands undoing as they looked to push on after a promising start, they may now have to bat again as they left Bangladesh with 201 to chase. Flintoff was the first to catch the runout fever as he flicked one off his legs straight to the bat pad fielder and by the time he had turned round to get back to his crease after staring to run the bails were off and so was he. Collingwood followed soon after and both batsmen after looking promising failed to make a big enough impact in the eyes of the spectators who politely applauded them as they walked of.

England Scorecard:

England really needed another 100-150 stand to consolidate there position but it never got past 20 im afraid, even the normally run rich partnership of Jones and Giles couldnt produce and Jones met his end after a fantastic throw from the boundary which left him well short of his ground. Harmison was ran out without facing as Giles suicidaly called yes very late. Hoggard and Giles made a last ditch attempt to plunder some runs and the bats were swinging and swinging hard but Giles could never hit it anywhere but the fielders, a yorker was his undoing in the end, he missed they hit and he went for 1.

Flintoff's Fifty:

cricket200420050104200150292gw.png

Jimmy Anderson came out with a purpose and made all of 8 runs before greed got the better of him and Hoggard paid the price, another silly yes call was made and Hoggard had to walk after falling way short of the crease, so at the end of a poor innings by England they leave with a 344 that should have been way into the 500's easily, there was no danger of the bowlers taking any whickets and the team proved there own downfall with pointless running, they will definately need to improve if they are to get anything from the major matches.

End Of Match
Bangladesh: 143 and 147 All Out and

England: 344 All Out

England win by an innings and 154 runs.

Jimmy Anderson on fire as Bangladesh are demolished!

Bangladesh proved to be a warm up game for the England boys and they now look like the real deal with the ball after a poor performace with the bat, especially Jimmy Anderson who took four wickets on a pitch that favoured the spinners heavilly. Simon Jones will need to do extremely well to deny Anderson a long overdue place in the England test lineup, aslo among the wickets were Harmison (2), Giles (2) and Collingwood who finished with the last wicket of the day. Bangladesh looked defeated form the off and although Aftab Ahamed and Mohhamed Ashfaul put on a decent stand the result was inevitable.

Aftab Ahmed drives through the covers on his way to 41:

cricket200420050104202310684xx.png

The nightmare started all over again for them as Harmison went for two boundarys and a two singles from his first five balls but hit back with ball number six which Harnan Sarkar nicked to Michael Vaughan, an almost identical dismissal to the first innings one, in fact it was a carbon copy only this time he made 2 more runs. Hoggard produced a good bit of fielding in the second over to run out Javed Omar and hope looked lost for Bangladesh. Jimmy Anderson replaced Hoggard soon after and took two wickets in his first over, Rakin Saleh then edged an effort ball from Anderson which bounced kneck hight and sailed to Jones who took a neat catch. Aftab Ahmed was the next to feel the wrath and a thick edge was his undoing, Anderson bamboozeled him with a deliver that zipped back and Hoggard took a fantastic catch diving forward to deny him his 50.

Rajin Saleh cuts one away:

cricket200420050104202438755tu.png

Harmison found his rhythm and struck again in the next over by dismissing Habibul Bashair after just four balls, the ever involved Anderson taking the catch from the edge. Rahman was caught by Giles after trying to cut Anderson and then Giles got his first wicket of the match by clean bolwing Mashud, a well flighted deliver that got the batsman sweeping at a ball that was too full to be swept, middle stump. Anderson took his fourth and final wicket in fine style, bowling accross the estabalished Ashraful and nipping them away, he continiued for 3 balls and then nipped one back in, plum LBW and Anderson was ecstatic.

Bangladesh Scorecard:

Giles took his second wicket after making the batsman play and taking the edge which Hoggard caught comfortably. Collingwood put Tapash Baisya out of his misery quickly enough as Bangladesh failed once again to reach the 200 mark, poor for a test match side but a good confidence booster for England. The camp look forward to getting past the tour matches and getting stuck into the big boys.

England Beat the Governers XI by an innings and 144 runs

Michael Vaughan (141) and Graham Thorpe (133) were accompanied by a mature Trescothick (84) to make 522 in reply to the Gov's 1st innigs total of 208 in which Hoggard and Harmison both grabbed 3 wickets a piece while Jones got two to his name. England followed this up by bowling out the Gov's for 225 in the second innings where Hoggy picked up 4 and Jones and Giles both picked up 2. A good performance by England, next match.... England Vs Pakistan:
1st Test:
Rawalpindi:
Sponsored by Npower:

After comming through their first two matches with two massive wins (both by an innings) the boys will be looking to break down a strong Pakistan side very fast and not let them get on top of the game, once the runs start flowing for them they very rarely stop. There main man with the bat is Inzaman Ul-Haq who plays the anchor role, adding valuable runs if the top order have made a few or holding it together and batting out the innings if they havent, they will need to get rid of him fast, on the bowling side of things Shoaib Aktar is very dangerous, extreme pase and mastefull accuracy will have anyone trembling in their shoes.

c2004runout20050105192230143bu.png

Inzaman won the toss for Pakistan and elected to bat, it wouldnt really matter on this pitch, it wont deteriate much as the match goes on and will take spin from the start, England wont be putting Giles in form the beggining though, they want to get the batsmen on the back foot so Harmison and Hoggard are given the new Ball.

c2004runout20050105192254431cc.png

Harmison will be the main man on this wicket, its extreme bounce will favour his height andif he hits the deck hard then the batsmen will be in dep trouble, Hoggard gets it swinging from the start and Anderson may replace him later on in the spell, look out for the ever dangerous Giles too.

Pakistan have slumped to 188 All out and England are in a position to take them to the cleaners.

1st Innings:
Pakistan: 188 All Out

England look set to get the upper hand after a great day in the field:

Close of play is approaching for the first days play here in Rawalpindi and Pakistan look like another training team, they just havent really turned up and have been thankfull for a few performances, namely Inzaman Ul Haq qho made 43 before Steve Harmison had his way with him and Shoaib Malik who was denied his 50 after the tailender failed to support him and ended on 47 not out. Salman Butt was Harmisons first victim of the day making only 15 of 42 balls before Harmison induced the edge with a slower ball and Trescothick took a low catch at 1st slip, the steam train was in motion as Yasir Hameed last just two balls before the nothern rock struck again, this time the extra zip on the ball confused the batsman and it was on him quicker than he though, no sooner had he played the shot than it was in Michael Vaughans hands and he was out for 0.

Inzaman Ul Haq falls to the mighty Steve Harmison and fails to save Pakistan from a low total:

c2004runout20050105200847501fa.png

Imran Farhat stayed in for 72 balls and only scored 12 runs after being pinned back after superb spells of bowling from Steve Harmison who was well partnered by Mathew Hoggard and James Anderson, he was the next to go, again it was Harmison making the breakthrough as Inzaman was dominating at the other end, another fantastic slip catch by Michael Vaughan, diving high to his right to send Farhat packing. The normally cool Yousif Youhana cracked under the pressure as he was kept back in his crease by effort filled bouncers from James Anderson who ended the over with a well placed yorker at Youhana's legs which got underneath him and crashed into leg stump, well bowled and Youhana has to go for 0.

Shoaib Aktar is undone by a wonderfull spell of bowling by Hoggard:

c2004runout20050106184452237px.png

Abdul Razzaq and Inzaman looked to be bulding a strong partnership untill the walls broke down and Inzaman raised his bat to a fierce bouncer from Harmison which kepper JOnes took fantastically, it was all downhill from there by Pakistan. Razzaq run out for 16, the next batsman is runout for 0 after facing just 3 balls. Then came some maginifcent bowling from Hoggard, first Shoaib Aktar was done by an outsinger that zipped away to the slips and was well taken by Jones at full stretch, then came Mohhamed Sami who added only 4 before Hoggard claimed him too, this time it was an inswinger which took a thick edge to Vaughan, then to round of the innings Danesh Kaneria, the young spinner got himself in a right tangle as he just stuck his bat out at a wide delivery and thin edged to Trescothick at 1st slip to round of a fantastic bowling performance from England
