Mohammad Rafique strikes for the Tigers - Strauss gone for 37

50727.jpg

Ian Botham: And thats the first wicket! Andrew Strauss is the man to be dismissed, caught by Khaled Mahmud off Mohammad Rafique.

73l37m.jpg

Nasser Hussain: Rafique bowls a nice full pitched delivery and invites Strauss to go over the top, doesnt get enough meat on it and hits it straight to Khaled Mahmud at mid wicket. Finally a breakthrough for Bangladesh, provided by that man, Mohammad Rafique.

England 72-1 after 14.2 Overs
Andrew Strauss c Khaled Mahmud b Mohd. Rafique 37(45)

Match Update:
England 101-1 20 Overs
M. Trescothick 51*(62)
V. Solanki 8*(14)

Mohd. Rafique 1-11 (3)

Ian Botham: England have crossed 100, losing one wicket in the process, that of Andrew Strauss. Marcus Trescothick has reached his fifty, and his good habit of scoring runs at the Oval continues. Vikram Solanki is the other batsmen in the middle, unbeaten on 8.
For Bangladesh, Mohammad Rafique has picked up the only wicket to fall so far.

----Highlights from Overs 10-20----
Ian Botham: Thats a fine shot for four by Andrew Strauss. The cut shot was timed to perfection by the left hander and it raced away to the fence for four. Fine shot.

8vt5iw.jpg

Nasser Hussain: Sure was. Andrew Strauss has decided to go after the Bangladeshi bowlers here. Very well timed cut shot and well rewarded with the boundary.
-----------------------------------------------------
Ian Botham: And thats the first wicket!

-----------------------------------------------------
Nasser Hussain: Fifty for Marcus Trescothick, as his love for this ground continues. He already averages above 86 here. Just cant stop scoring runs here, can he, Ian?

8vt63b.jpg

Ian Botham: Well he loves playing in this ground, doest he?. Has scored a lot of runs, and is just carrying on his good form. The crowd absolutely love it. He has played well today, 50 off just 61 balls, putting his team right on top in this match.
-----------------------------------------------------
Ian Botham: And after twenty overs played, these are the scorecards.

Match Update:
England 157-1 30 Overs
M. Trescothick 81*(92)
V. Solanki 28*(46)

Mohd. Rafique 1-33 (8)

Bob Willis: England are really on top in this game after the first thirty overs. Trescothick's dreamrun at the Oval continues, and the left handed opener is still unbeaten on 81 from 92 balls, and is being well supported by Vikram Solanki at the other end. Bangladesh have been unable to break this partnership, and with nine wickets in hand, England will very confident of posting a huge total here, especially with players like Flintoff and Pietersen coming up next.

---Highlights from Overs 20-30---
Paul Allot: Solanki has timed that well enough, and thats another boundary for England!!Beautiful sweep shot there from Vikram Solanki, getting into position well to execute the shot.

8vu90l.jpg

Bob Willis: And with that boundary England move on to 116-1.
---------------------------------------------------
Paul Allot: That is going all the way for another boundary. Trescothick has decided to step out to the Bangladeshi bowlers, and has done it well.

8vub2f.jpg

Bob Willis: Well it wasnt a bad ball by Aftab Ahmed, and was aimed at the advancing Trescothick's legs, but the England opener was able to execute the on drive well enough and the result was four more runs.
England are really making life difficult for Bangladesh now.
--------------------------------------------------
Paul Allot: So after 30 overs, England have scored 157 for the loss of just 1 wicket. Trescothick is just 19 runs short of another one day hundred.

Match Update:
England 227-1 40 Overs
M. Trescothick 114*(121)
V. Solanki 65*(77)

Mohd. Rafique 1-47 (10)

David Gower: England are in charge of proceedings here at the moment. Bangladesh, just like in the test series, have no idea how to dismiss the England batsmen. Marcus Trescothick continues his run fest at the Oval with another hundred, while his partner Vikram Solanki has also done well to remain unbeaten on 65 from 77 balls.

---Highlights from Overs 30-40---
Attar Ali Khan: And there it is, another hundred for Marcus Trescothick, his tenth in ODIs, third at this ground. Has been a fantastic knock by the England opener, well played.

8vzofb.jpg

David Gower: Well what can I say. Trescothick and the Oval seems to be a match made in heaven. Its been a fine display of aggressive batting from the Somerset opener that has left Habibul Bashar scratching his head a bit too often.
---------------------------------------------------
Attar Ali Khan: What a shot that is!! Vikram Solanki has smashed Khaled Mahmud to the fence.

8vzs5g.jpg

David Gower: Yes very straight, and got the full face of the bat, and powered the ball to the boundary line. Good batting this by Vikram Solanki.
---------------------------------------------------
David Gower: And he is smacked that one for another four, has Marcus Trescothick as England move on to 202-1.
It was a short and wide from Aftab Ahmed, and Trescothick pounced on it. England are on top now.

8vztqr.jpg

---------------------------------------------------
David Gower: And with that single Vikram Solanki register his fifty from seventy one deliveries. It has been a fine innings from the young man, who along with Marcus Trescothick has put England in pole position in this match

8vzuig.jpg

Attar Ali Khan: Yes indeed. Not only has he supported Trescothick well, but in the last few overs has scored quite a few runs himself. Especially after his fifty, he has scored three fours already. Attacking intent being shown here by Solanki.

Match Update:
England 326-1 50 Overs
M. Trescothick 162*(152)
V. Solanki 111*(107)

Mohd. Rafique 1-47 (10)

Michael Holding: The Marcus and Vikram show propelled England to a mammoth 326-1 against Bangladesh in this first one day international of the 2005 Natwest Series. Trescothick hit his highest one day international score, unbeaten on 162 from 152 balls. Vikram also made a quickfire century scoring an unbeaten 111 from just 107 balls.

Darren Lehmann: Yeah lots of boundaries scored in the final ten overs, as both Solanki and Trescothick went for the big shots, picking up 99 runs in those last ten overs.

---Highlights from Overs 40-50---
Michael Holding: Trescothick glances that one to fine leg, and there is no one there, so he'll pick up four runs.

8we354.jpg

Darren Lehmann: Well its very risky not to have fine leg at this stage of the innings, and on top of that bowl down the leg side to the batsmen who is fully set.
--------------------------------------------------
Michael Holding: Third one day international hundred for Vikram Solanki. A superb effort from the batsman from Worcester. His second fifty came off just 30 deliveries.

Darren Lehmann: Great performance by England. Trescothick and Solanki both scoring hundreds and putting England in a very very good position in this match. Whereas for Bangladesh it has been a disappointing bowling display with just one wicket.
