It is a curious case of seeing how long he can dine out on that one innings vs Pakistan.

Because he's totally got that in him, right? He can do it again, right? Right....?
Maybe in ten years.

Course he can, just like his mentor Rob Key scored all those other test tons after his double...

Didn't he score a half century in The Ashes followed by a ton in the West Indies? Or was it some other guy? I seriously can't recollect.

Yorkshire played out yet another highly disappointing draw yesterday. About 200 ahead when the final day began, they failed to take a single wicket in the day and settled for a draw shortly after tea.

Doesn't say much for Dom Bess as the team's front line spinner, though the team are missing three fairly large contributors in Ben Coad and Matt Fisher, with Harris Rauf now expected to head back to international duty.

Frustrating, never the less.

These all-time T20 Blast XIs are pretty fun. Cricinfo never asked for my vote, but if they had done:
  1. :eng: :bat: Luke Wright - The ever-present opener, just knows how to get things done
  2. :eng: :bat: Graeme Hick - Hit big scores all the time; averaged 36 scoring at nearly 160
  3. :aus: :bat: Cameron White :os: - An absolute giant of the competition whenever he came over.
  4. :eng: :bat: Sam Hain - A vital crisis man at number four, even if he gets shuffled down when a bigger hitter is needed
  5. :eng: :bat: Jos Buttler - Made his name as a middle-order boundary cruncher in the blast; not picked as a keeper though.
  6. :eng: :ar: Will Jacks - An odd selection, but he's an unbelievably clean hitter and since he worked out his spin is a vital dual-role player.
  7. :aus: :ar: Dan Christian :c: :os: - "Old guys win stuff." Plus his hundred at Wantage Road was absolutely GOATed.
  8. :eng: :wk: Paul Nixon - A personal favourite player, he was a bundle of energy behind the stumps and the perfect player for weird situations.
  9. :eng: :bwl: Stuart Broad - He emerged as a not-yet-shaving opening bowler who didn't concede runs and bowled Leicestershire to the title. Career economy of 5.67
  10. :eng: :bwl: Chris Tremlett - An absolute bear of a man, but people forget just how good he was in the Blast. 73 wickets at 19 with an economy of 7.
  11. :eng: :bwl: Matt Parkinson - 88 wickets at 17 apiece, and a bowler who makes highlights happen. Automatic pick.

I think Cricinfo XI beats you comfortably

They definitely have reputations and counting stats that are stronger than mine, but head-to-head I'd take Hick, Hain, Broad, Tremlett and Parkinson over Hales, Patel, Mahmood, Gurney and Briggs.

Jacks versus Bopara could certainly go either way as they're pretty much opposite players, and Nixon was admittedly a luxury pick.

County XI picked to face New Zealand. Plenty of interesting names in this one. Match is at Chelmsford, starts Thursday.

Jack Blatherwick (Lancashire)
Michael Burgess (Warwickshire)
Ben Compton (Kent)
Ben Gibbon (Worcestershire)
Nick Gubbins (Hampshire)
Tom Haines (Sussex)
Lyndon James (Nottinghamshire)
Ryan Patel (Surrey)
Liam Patterson-White (Nottinghamshire)
Jamie Porter (Essex)
Ollie Robinson (Sussex)
Dom Sibley (Warwickshire)

The player from this list I was perhaps most interested in seeing play against NZ, Ollie Robinson, pulled out with a back problem yesterday morning. At least he get injured like an England fast bowler, he's got that box ticked no problem.
