Favorite cricket moments

I think sachinisgod is referring to a match between India and Pakistan in Pakistan during that 5 match one day series. Chauhan hit a six in the last over, not the last ball.. i remember that game.. it was a thriller and was terrific

I think I remember once seeing a clip of the incident when Raman Lamba got hit on the head fielding at silly mid-on and eventually died. That was a sad clip. Unforgettable, but very sad.

It was February 20, 1998. Arch rivals Abahani and Mohammedans were in a crucial league encounter at Bangabandhu National Stadium. Lamba of Abahani was fielding at forward short leg without any helmet. Ball struck at his head following a pull by Mehrab Hossain Opee of Mohammedans. Opee was out, as the ball went to keeper Khaled Masud Pilot's gloves after hitting Lamba's head. Lamba had also to return to pavilion with wounds.

Apparently, it was not a serious injury and he was able to walk. But Abahani physician rushed him to a local clinic. As his condition deteriorated, the following day he was taken to Bangabandhu Medical University Hospital. Despite all efforts, Lamba died clinically the following day.

The ball was hit so hard, it went to the keeper after bouncing off his head!
He had emergency brain surgery but slipped into a coma and died.

Actually brett's six was on the fourth delivery........1 to win from 2 balls......

that's right only twice an odi was won when a batsman hit a 6 off the last ball.

now to test your memory further, anyone knows when a odi was tied after a last ball 6 :p (will be easy to find on cricinfo stats search but try to name without if you can.)

was it lance klusener hitting a six of the last ball against the kiwis ??

no SA won that game right? I'm talking about a TIE match.

btw Klusener has done the last ball wonders few more times..once a 6 v WI and a 4 v NZ.

Fardin? Any response? Anyone else remember a match where Youhana hit a last ball six to win for Pakistan? Are you sure you didnt mean Miandad, Fardin? The only other match with similar circumstances I remember was when Asif Mujtuba hit Steve Waugh for a last ball six to TIE a match for pakistan in one of the World series triangular matches several years ago.
Fardin still hasnt told us which game he was talking about though :gundown

It never happened. Just checked the statsguru in cricinfo and could say with 100% certainty that it didn't happen.

I just checked all his ODI innings in which Pakistan were batting second and had won. And ofcourse if he hit a six off the final ball he would remain not out. That narrows it down dramatically. The closest I found was a four off the second last ball against Bangladesh

Your memorys gone a bit there.... Dickie Bird was not umpiring in that match, and it was lillee who threw it off the field..... It is a memorable moment though!
oh true.....well i did watch it live as a kid....any idea what year and who the batsman/umpire was? I would love to know :hpraise to andrew_nixon...

The batsman was of course Dennis Lillee.... he faced 4 balls from Ian Botham before England complained. 10 minutes were lost before he threw it off the field. The umpires were Max O'Connell and Donald Weser.

See here for the scorecard.

In no particular order:

1: Stuart Turner mashing sixes when Essex played my local team Burnham-on-Crouch in a friendly in around 1972. I was about 4 at the time and this was just about my 1st cricketing memory.

2: Devon Malcom's spell against S.A. in 1994 after Fanie deVilliers (I think) bounced him a few times in the previous innings. The man gets up - shakes the cobwebs, declares "You're history" and promptly takes 9 - 57.

3: Shane Warne's "Mike Gatting" ball.

4: Watching Lara at Edgbaston playing for Warks. He plays gently on the leg side. I expect square leg to amble in and pick up the ball. Next thing - a loud crash and the ball is bouncing 15 metres back from the boundary board. Awesome timing.

5: Allan Donald bowling with all 9 outfielders in the slip / gully / fly slip position - again Warks at Edgbaston.

6: Nasser Hussain's last 2 cover drives in international cricket. One to bring up his 100; the second to win the match at Lord's. Perfect ending to an excellent career.

Oh yes, the ball of the century, I remember that. Pitched outside leg, Gatting tries to defend, but it spins a mile and takes the top of off stump

any favorite 'not so pleasant' moments? I remember Inzy storming into a stand with a bat in his hand, and a scene Aquib Javed and Miandad had with an umpire on their England tour of 92.

1: Watching a visiting wicket keeper at Edgbaston. He crouches down for the delivery. Stands up. Bends over. Was horribly sick!

2: Dennis Lillee kicking Javed Miandad. Many thought Dennis brought the game into disrepute! Others thought he hadn't kicked him hard enough :D

3: Mike Gatting and umpire Shakoor Rana engaged in a "finger-wagging" contest. I believe Mike was accusing the umpire of stealing his chips at lunch! The most unfortunate thing about this row was that it led to:

4: Neutral umpires. One of the saddest days in cricket. :crying

talking of memorable deliveries, I saw one in recent England - SA test series where Dale Styen clean bowled Vaughan, ball pitched around middle and leg and hit the off stump and that too at close to 90mph. that one could have got any intl. batsman imo..
