Favorite Indian Food.

Being a bengali!! i love rice , dal, sabzi and fish ( Hilsha with mustrad) basically it is known as Shorshebata Ilish . I also like south indian and north indian food South is my favourite , like BF Gulab jamun is also my favourite . I dont eat jalebi so much as i cant digest it easily

Is Pakistani food mostly the same as Punjabi and North Indian food ?

My favorites are the North-Indian dishes even though Iam a South-Indian.
Anything with Paneer in it is great !
Paneer Tikka Masala, malai kofta, kolhapuri......makes my mouth water !

some of the pakistani foods are same but pakistani dishes varies in spices which makes those dishes different from others .

Pau bhajji, Butter Chicken (South Indian version), Malabar Parathas, Vadda pau.

I just spelt them as they're pronounced. =D

Me too a vegetarian... But north indian stuff is my favorite.

Malai Kofta, mutter panneer, saag panneer, choley, etc.... i luv north indian stuff even though i am from south india (chennai).

I am also from Chennai and a vegetarian I like both typical SouthIndian meals and North Indian stuffs. :cool:

all paneer items, i simply love navratna korma !!! too delicious !

south indian items are great too ! nice hot idlis and dosas with tasty sambars....

nothing like a nice chaat item in the streets ......
bhel,pani puri (golguppa/phoochka), pav bhaaji etc...yummy !!

oh yes, great sweets like gulab jamun,jalebis(esp with rabri), rasgullas or ROSHOGOLLA(the bengali style ) !

ok i'll stop...my mouth is already filled with water

btw, has any indian here (except for harrypotter_fan ) ever tasted kolhapuri misal ??

And don't forget the Jalebi - I like them best when they're really fresh and also served really cold.

Jalebi with milk is the absolute best. I used to have it for breakfast.

Most of the dishes mentioned in this thread are also Pakistani dishes. Having eaten at Indian restaurants before I think the only real difference is the spices being used.

BTW, if anyone is ever near Lahore, be sure to take a trip down Food Street. I hear its food heaven over there. You can sit at any restaurant and order from another one and they'll go get it for you.
