Where do you field?

At higher levels, you tend to field in a place. But if you are just playing park cricket and that, yeah you just field where ever.

Dude im best in side. I field Point, Gully in opening spells, Midwicket and Cover for spinners and Outfield in Slog overs. Whats wrong with this. Dont you see Symmo running all over field?

I never called you a bad player, I just said you obviously don't play at a high level because you were like "What the hell?". And the only reason symmo was running everywhere was because of hayden's injury and the injury to stuart clark.

If you watched him regularly, his either point or cover, then he gets pushed back when the batsman go for it. All higher level players have a specialised or favourite position.

I field first slip. Get to talk to the keeper and point and sledge the batters. Lol otherwise for the spinner I'm deep square leg or in close at silly mid on/off. Sometimes I field in cover.

I love talking to the keeper, particuarly if the other team is on top. We just talk about random stuff, just to keep the interest levels up :D

Go watch ODIs. Your best fielders are where the ball goes most likely. Anyways why im defending myself. I know I can field everywhere and my coach and team thinks so.

No need to get defensive. Everyone else doesn't have a problem with the thread, why must you?

Matthew Hayden would vote for slips cordin
Andrew Symonds would vote for point and cover
Graeme Smith would vote for slips cordin
Tendulkar would vote for slips cordin
Johnty Rodes would vote for point and cover
See what I mean? Now I know those players wouldn't stay in that position the entire game, but they are the positions they start the day off with and specialise in

It's not that hard to get, everyone else has got it ;)

The poll has multiple answers. Its not one answer poll and nowhere its mentioned where do you field in morning or start of game.

When I use to play (have had to have a season or two off due to injury) I would always be in point or cover. Depending on the field we had set, I would either slot into the standard point, or a catching cover. Other times I would move in to silly point. I was once hit in the cheek, and proceeded to bleed, but the good comes with the bad.

But yeah, most people stay in the same spot for the whole game, only making tactical changes when needed. Watching me play, for 90% of the match I would be in point or cover.

I'm not really fussed where I field to be honest. Because the ball has a tendancy to follow me (even when I want a drink at fine leg ). I usually get put at 2nd slip to start the game, then as we get through the early stages moved out to point/cover/mid-wicket.

I actually took a record number of catches last season, and claimed a league record.

Lol yeah thats excatly what I do! :D I usually have a good bond with the keeper.. In my first year I had some good batting partnerships with the keeper and now hes left we have a new keeper and I've had a couple of good batting partnerships with him.. lol.

Exactly so just tick the bloody boxes where you think you are good at fielding or enjoy fielding there!

Jesus, why must you struggle at something so simple? You know what, don't answer that. Just vote and leave.

Point, I'm not trusted on the boundary ever since we were playing a game, the oppo needed about 7 off 3, the ball came to me cut, 1 bounce spun away from me and 4. Still we won but I took some stick.

i have to say im a slip in all myy teams

my ground fielding is SHOCKING but i have very saf hands so it suits me well

1st slip, and backward point.
Lemme tell ya, the latter positions a toughy. Especially on rough Indian grounds.
1st slip is great though, talk to the keeper, good motivator position, and of course, some words to the batsman :D (Nothing too offensive though..)

When the spinners are on, I go bat-pad.

Me and the keeper are the opening batsmen and we are both very defensive players. Me and the keeper get on very well.

Norm keeper (nothing worse when in juniors having to wear a helmet and diving to try and stop wayward fast bowling :D) but if im not their be first slip or next to crease on the offside to get the poppers
