Firewall help please :)

hey guys, i dont tend to wander in this part of the forums very often as im totally dumb when it comes to PC's.

I dont know if this is a stupid question or not, but my firewall on my new laptop isnt letting me connect to the internet, i was wondering were i go to turn the firewall off, or atleast allow msn to function.

Thanks in advance for the help, its much appreciated by myself as ive just got this dam wireless to work after 2 hours of humming and arrrrring

Dont turn it off, thats the equivalent of going out and leaving your front door open. You should be able to allow programs access thru the firewall somewhere in the setting. What firewall have you got?

Thanks for the speedy return on my question but i asked my mom and she has got the firewall we have on the main pc, and its all working fine now.

Ste, why is it embarresing? My mum works with computers on a daily basis at work, i dont. She has more knowledge on PC's than me, and i needed advice. How is it embarresing if i need to ask my mom for help? Its my mom, she has been for near enuf 17 years its her job !!
